I am seeing an increasing and alarming trend on our site, yes it's our community!  People have become down right rude and nasty.  I may not agree with you, but I am NOT going to personally insult you for having an option I do not agree with.

While I am on my rant, please do not look for assistance in doing questionably legal and clearly amoral activities.  I am sure there are some deep web sites that will help you with these activities.  I am here to make money, learn and possibly help out others.   There is more business and deals than I could get to in 2 lifetimes, so I choose to run a clean business and would hope others would as well.

I love how, if MEN* have a hard time expressing and understanding their emotions, they conveniently decide that emotions aren't "appropriate" in business.

The supreme irony is, real estate is all about people and relationships, and people are all about emotions. If you can't be compassionate and you don't know how to appropriatly integrate your emotions into business, then you have no business in real estate.

*Thankfully not all men fit this description.

Thomas S.  interpretation is the key.. I know when my staff gets going I simply say put down the mouse and pick up the phone and call that person you guys are all out to lunch..

Not sure exactly when I joined but it's been awhile.

Keep in mind that typed words on a screen come across to everyone differently. One persons style may be different than others and can easily be misinterpreted in print. Ignore any perceived attitude and simply consider the statements made with out any emotional attachment. The internet should not convey emotions only facts on a forum dedicated to business.

My statements are always made with no emotional intent and will often come across as harsh to those more sensitive individuals. That is how I believe business should be conducted. Emotions are a sign of weakness and inappropriate in business. That by nature should extend to business forums. In addition where one operates a business dealing many times with the criminal nature of some tenants alternate solutions to problem situations can come into play. One may choose to dismiss the chosen path of others without the need to judge.

Regrettably money by nature is not "clean".

Funny thing is since I have been involved in forums over the past 20 years this one is by far the most respectful of all that I have been involved with although any comparison to my "custom" motorcycle forums may not be a fair comparison. I guess most of us have developed thick skin as landlords such that we simply ignore the tone and deal only with content.

The ignore button is a valuable option on the inter web.

Thanks for commenting, @Lesley Resnick . I keep a close eye on our forums, and have sent several notices recently asking members to watch their tone.

If you see someone being nasty and rude, please feel free to report the post. In the upper right corner of every post, there are three green dots. Hovering over it creates a drop-down menu and Report Abuse is a choice at the bottom.

Clicking this option will send a note to our support staff to check out the post - but the member who posted is not notified that they were reported.

I agree that we should try to act with decency and respect. With online forums, as with any medium that excludes face to face interaction, there can be problems with interpretation. Some people take any criticism as a personal insult (hello Mr. Trump). Some people just want to be stroked and don't want to hear the facts, or a perspective that doesn't match their own. Some people read their own biases and fears into the statements of other people.

It's pretty hard for anyone to insult me or make me feel bad, in person or in here. I only really care about the words that are said by people that I genuinely care about, and that is a pretty small group. I have had a few people in here over the years take offense at my position and start hurling insults at me. If they could see me on my side of the screen they'd see I'm laughing. The impish side of me would love to encourage them to see how far they'll go, but the side of me that has respect for the job of the moderators to keep this a decent place just has me walk away. :)

@Lesley Resnick  nasty tone aside.. I think the amoral and questionably illegal activities are in the eye of the beholder... And of course the biggest grey area is some of the advice folks give wanna be wholesalers on this site..

Much of it is simply not right and I dought most folks would treat their grandmother the same way.
