@Jay Hinrichs, @Taylor L. and @Karl B. thank you for this feedback. I am sharing all of this with our Development team. We're going to look at how to incorporate this into our plans for improving user experience.
100% agreed. The Unanswered Discussions function has become far more difficult to use with this redesign. I sincerely hope this whole thing gets walked back. @Mindy Jensen

Ya I love BP, Mindy, Scott etc and its done a tonne for me personally.. However time is important and it is going to take too much time now to read these threads its too slow.. so if this is the way its going to be I will no longer be a power user like the past.. Plus maybe every one is sick of me by now anyway. LOL..
I feel the same way. The new format isn't easy on the eyes and to have roughly two forum threads displayed on the screen at any one time strains my eyes for having to click 'page down' over and over and over. Now answering people's forum questions feels more like a job than a hobby.
If you click the little box with the four horizontal lines (toward the top of the Newest Post page) it brings you to a better format but it's still inferior to the old format and the thread headline text is unappealing.
I liked the format BP had roughly two years ago. I don't know why they have to keep changing things. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. But fix this current format because it's awful. I want to see as many thread headlines on a page as possible so I can see which I want to answer to.
Having to scroll and scroll will have me on here way less because as mentioned, it tires my eyes and feels like I'm doing work to find a thread I'm interested in as opposed to quickly scanning a page that contains roughly 15 thread titles per 'page down' click.

I cant find the little box can you send a screen shot to this thread so I can try to figure out what your seeing and I am not..
YUP too slow for me personally and I never use the phone anyway but I got to think it does not look good on the phone either.
@Karl B. OK I found the 4 lines and it does switch it after clicking it a few times and that is somewhat better.. but still cant go to the last post on the thread I least I dont see how you do that so you have to read through them all to get to the last one or you have to scroll down and hit the number pages at the bottom.. takes too much time .. I can live with the alternate format that you just showed me but I have to have a one click to the end of the thread a lot of the best in depth threads are long at least for my personal use..

I wrote that when before I had my coffee and might have been a tad harsh we love you guys..
I agree and wish I could use the old format still. It forced me over to this new format yesterday and I have not been as active in the forums since because it's so difficult to move around the way I used to. Not a fan of this one!

I have a call ( today at 1:30 PST) with their customer service rep who reached out to me so hopefully I can give decent feedback.
I agree. The new format provides far less content than the old version. Some of the features that I like in the old version but missing in the new version include: Latest post timestamp, author, go directly to the last post, etc.
One feature I specifically love is sorting by post numbers. I found the topics with most posts usually are the most informative but now there's no way I can find the topic with some of the most posts.
The web page push feature looks cool but produces redundant information, some posts appear several times and looks unorganized.
Also, we still need the pull-down menu for each category instead of another extra step to reach each category.
There are tons of message board softwares out there that can do a great job. I use several of them for forums I run for other passion interests, some approaching the size of BP.
Running this site is probably hard, and my deep appreciation to those who do it, but this forum software is atrocious. Professional companies have enterprise solutions that can probably save you oodles of money and provide a better product.
@Mindy Jensen additionally, it is more difficult to see where the meetups are now that the map display was removed. Also, it would be great to have meetups that are virtual displayed differently. Maybe in chronological order or something like that so that people who want to attend a virtual meetup from a different state can more easily find those meetups.

The new format sucks. This isn’t the first time they are tinkering with it and EVERY time it has gotten worse than it was before. I think it would help greatly to understand what it is that they are trying to fix. Whatever it is, it had better be an amazing feature because for the rest of us, the site becomes damn near unusable.
Well, there are some Windows keyboard shortcuts that can help.
While reading a forum topic page, CTRL+End will take you to the bottom of the page; then, scroll back up a little to find count of pages and select the last one. Then, CTRL+End to get to the bottom of THAT page, if needed.

Hello, Mindy,
I was in IT for 37+ years. I'd like to share some of my experience with you and your team.
The primary key should be to NEVER remove a feature without a good reason. If it's there, you can bet users are using it, especially if it saves time, scrolling, etc. Navigational aids are ALWAYS MOST WELCOME!
You might want to consider adding icons at the top and bottom of each page, like so:
|<- < > ->|
That is,
Beginning of thread
Previous page
Next page
End of thread
..., respectively.
My $0.02 ...
Note also that the editing code on this page does not allow me to correct the error in the unordered list, above.

Hey Shiloh maybe the one thing good about covid is the advent of virtual meetups.. I need to engage in those I like that format.. don't have to leave home I wonder were one would find listings of virtual meetups.. you know a meetups roster for dummies maybe ???
Also what's the etiquette of those is it OK to just invite ones self to those meetings or do you just wait to get invited ??

Yeah - less than ideal ... most work-arounds are.
... also, not useful on the app.
David best thing you have taught me to date ctl end I always wondered what you used those keys for you know the insert key the home key the pg up key the delete key end key pg down.. I am afraid to try them lest I screw up my computer some how.. now I will play with those and see what they actually do if anything.
Have to add my agreement that while I love BP the biggest road block for me for more participation is the terrible user experience with the forum software. Its terrible and I have never understood why BP does not just purchase a forum option that actually works and is easy to navigate.
I generally give up and go away for a few months and then come back and see if anything changed.
I did fill out the survey altho if the forum stays as it is I will probably post much less :(
+1 on this. Figured it was just me and everyone else was fine with it. Was disappointed this week when the old format option was discontinued. I went to give feedback via the survey, but found that most of the 10 questions didn't apply to my use of the forum, and there was no N/A choice. So I abandoned it (and recalled abandoning for the same reason a long time ago).
I agree with the difficulty of reading, the lack of a "last post" button, but my biggest disappointment may be that so many threads open in new tabs. It's very clunky.
@Mary M. I am the same way. I used to be on here way more 12-18 months ago, before they changed the dashboard to push the podcast/blog/ other things; when you used to be able to see the posts of the ppl you follow. Since they made that dashboard change to cross sell their other content, I'll come back for a few days then get fed up with not being able to read interesting things that the people I've followed post and leave. There are just too may other places out there to get content and have discussions where you don't get other things (Podcasts, blogs, magazines, usage based content) shoved down your throat.
There are a lot of people who have posted in this thread saying they don't like the new designs who have 1000+ posts. I wonder if their dev team tracks 1000+ post user engagement with every new update and what the results have been?

Bill I noticed your absence and was hoping you would return. !!!
Opens new browser window every time you click on a new topic.
No jump to first unread post.
Shows when the thread was started, not when last replied to.
Shows who started thread, not who last replied.
Why above each subject it lists the forum you are in is beyond me. I know what forum I'm in!
The annoying blue line above sponsored posts.
Posted by Jim Smith 3 hours ago. You open the thread and it was posted 2 months ago.
... Quote or report abuse. I'm in compact mode. Why would I quote or report a post when I can't see anything written in it?
Share button. Get rid of it.
Being able to vote on a post without even reading it?
Looks cluttered.
When scrolling I'm seeing some threads twice.
When scrolling, it appears that threads are not sorted in order of new posts.
I will say there is one improvement. It appears that sidebar that ranked the users is gone. Never understood it. Saw one person at a 10.0 and the next people were <3.
