Hi, we'd like to learn if it is a good time to invest in individual condos in SF bay area (or this year)? Also which areas in SF bay area are good for investing individual condos? All inputs are much appreciated!

From my experience, condos are not great investments. HOA regs, potential assessments, etc. But more importantly, why are you considering SF? I'm hearing horror stories from investors that are averaging $50k+ to buy out tenants due to rent control restrictions. Everyone knows how liberal SF is and sounds to be like a minefield for landlords. If you have the cash and insist on SF, shoot for a duplex+ if possible. Best wishes on your investing journey!

@James Z. I would not recommend investing in SF if Cashflow is your goal. With current inflated prices, you’d be negative cash flow for quite a few years. You’d have future appreciation for sure but don’t count on 100-150% appreciation in 5 years. Those days are behind us. I have an investment property in the South Bay and the only reason it’s a solid cash flowing investment is because I bought it in 2012.

Hey! Curious to see if there is a reason you were thinking about condos specifically?
