Modular homes.. buying land, building modular home- Good idea or BAD?

These homes seem to be really nice.. short time to build etc. Only thing I don't like is the foundation being pier and beam vs. slab.. that is the main giveaway.... has anyone gotten into Modular in Texas?

I would think it has to be pier and beam due to the potential flooding.

Thank you for replying.. Not usually, the vast majority of homes built in Texas are on concrete slabs, that is the norm and what people expect...
