Hello,
When performing value add construction what obligations does the owner/landlord have to the existing tenants in adjacent units? For example, I have a duplex and plan to add 2 additional units. This will undoubtedly cause noise and involve alterations to the back yard which will make it different from when the existing tenant(s) rented. I appreciate any insight you have BP!

Make sure the lease defines thier space. Exclusive use, boundaries of yard etc. Parking. We havent added units but specify the areas for other reasons. Otherwise you hear about it. In addition you have to mark off worker parking, notify them of areas that are not accessible-you dont want them walking under a work area. Maybe address dumpster use. Notify them when it will disrupt thier life. oh and dont rent to shift workers, trust me they dont want to be there and you dont want them there during construction.
