@Cody Gray cleaning companies are not your employees. You pay them when they are done cleaning your unit. As for finding them, referrals and trial and error. The STR business model relies heavily on reviews, so having a clean unit matters. If you find a good one, pay them well, the renters are paying the cleaning fee so think of it as a profit center for you rather a pass through to your good cleaning crew.

    If I could solve this problem, I’d be rich.  This will likely not be a challenge that you even temporarily solve. Companies are coming and going like the wind, currently.  I would suggest that you keep searching craigslist and Facebook marketplace for a current list of those hanging up a housekeeping shingle.  

    We “only” manage around 25 properties, but managing housekeeping is currently taking up half our time.

    One method is to message experied hosts in these markets on Airbnb. You'll likely experience some resistance, but a few will be willing to share their contacts with you. Another option is through turnoverbnb.

    @Collin H. Thank you for the response, that makes sense. What price range should I be looking at paying a cleaner? Since they're cleaning more often than weekly or bi-weekly being a STR, for efficiency, how often should I expect to submit payroll to cleaning company?

    It really depends on the house, size, and amenities. Does it have a hot tub they have to look after?  Grounds they clean up?  In the Smokies, we pay anywhere from $100 to $250 per cleaning.

    If you are an individual owner, I would guess that whoever you hire is going to want a Venmo payment after each cleaning, at least to start out.

    Send out chats to other local STR owners. Most won't answer but a few will. If I found a good cleaner then I would absolutely share that person as a reward for being amazing. Where I am setting mine up we have a person who checks guests on and out who lives on the mountain and he goes in behind them to check.

    Cody, did you ever find anyone? Im looking for same in Nashville and havent been able to get any referrals. I was able to contact one host who is willing to meet me when Im there next in 2 weeks. Other than that, guess its going to be trial and error.
