Hello everyone!
I have been listening to the Real Estate Rookie Podcast and have heard many things about STR's and co-hosting. I am curious about this nature of the business as I build my REI business. I do live in El Paso, TX and would love to meet those investing in this area for STR's that would like co-hosting assistance. However, I am also interested in working remotely, too, as I have heard this can be accomplished. From the Florida state since that is where I have lived for 30 years and I know the Central Florida area quite well.
I do have customer service background working in high end restaurants in Orlando for 8 years (getting food shopped all the time and passing with 100%) and feel I would be an excellent asset to someones property in it becoming a successful STR. I would love to work side-by-side with someone with experience so I can gain experience of my own as I build my confidence in doing my own STR for an investor who may not have as much time running a STR.
Would truly love (and appreciate) any advice you may have to get me started on this journey.
Thank you everyone in advance for taking the time to read my post and contributing to this forum. I know you are all very busy and I appreciate everyones time!
I am not an expert in Co-Hosting, as I own a STR PM Company in Tampa. If you are offering some on site services you will need to be located physically where you are managing, as we are. If it is all virtual I assume you could live in Greenland, if you wanted to.
As far as "getting into the business" - I would recommend you think long and hard. You did mention CS background which could help. It is often a thankless job, your clients want you to do more for less and the guests often need a lot of babying. I am painting an ugly picture for a reason, if you are not in it for the right reasons, you will probably get ground down quickly. If these are non issues, you may do well.
There is also a lot of competition in management of all forms now, so you should think about how you will contract clients and why they would choose you over someone else.
We co-host and the best advice I can give someone starting....get in the right groups/rooms with others that have been successful at it! You don't need to waste a few years working for someone else, but it will help if you learn from those that have done it before you.
There's a number of people that teach/coach how to start and run a STR company...
