How to Contact a nearby Airbnb Host Without Booking

Hi, I'm considering buying a property and would like to connect with fellow hosts in the area. Airbnb offers a messaging option, but I'm unsure if it's appropriate to use for this purpose.

It is borderline breaking Airbnb rules.  Airbnb does actually have a host meetup portion of the site but I have never used it.  There are plenty of Facebook groups with local hosts, I would try there.  Good luck!

    Madheshwaran,

First, find a property you’re looking to inquire on.. then, click on the property and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and there is a button that says “contact host” you can then message the host and ask them some questions.
Airbnb will prohibit sensitive information like if they shared their phone number or email but I’ve had other hosts ask me of my full name and then they found me on Facebook and connected with me that way.

Like others mentioned, there is typically always a Facebook group for your local STR hosts that you can connect with other hosts.

    hope this helps!

I have sent an inquiry to message select owners when I wanted to reach them.

    Same as @John Underwood @Madheshwaran R..

Usually it is to check if they are interested in bookings that I couldn't meet due to either no availability or the rare occasion when and AirBNB and VRBO booking for the same dates at the same time.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It appears that searching for a relevant Facebook group would be a helpful approach.

Please don't message through Airbnb as owners find it annoying as they get hit up by cleaners, instagramers and property management companies all the time this way and many of us mark it as spam which could kill your Airbnb account.  The way I do it is go to the property records for the county online find the owner's info and then Google search their phone number. We have several who have called us and usually are glad to help (avoid meal times and be aware of their timezones). Be cognizant of their time and I personally write out the major questions on a post it to make sure I hit them as I talk.

I'll second that you can probably find what you are looking for with a local STR facebook group for the area that are you interested in. There are literally hundreds of STR facebook groups, for cities and resort areas throughout the U.S. and the world.

Thanks Chris and Collin. I wasn't aware that vendors spam Airbnb host messaging . Thank you for information and the tips.

Exactly! Business messages through Airbnb platform get pretty old after a while, and we mark them as spam each time.
