Anyone Airbnb in Santa Barbara ?

I have a 2+1 in downtown SB- considering Airbnb... starting from scratch any advice?

Check the local regulations.  Google "Santa Barbara STR regulations" and check with the zoning commission/planning board.  I don't know, but I have a sneaking suspicion Santa Barbara is reeeeeally strict about it.

Hey Malia! I live in SB and unfortunately do not know much about the air bnb laws. However, i would love to offer any assistance to you in any way you may need. I am an aspiring investor that has yet to get my first property and experience.  I am looking everyday at MLS listings and running numbers. We are mainly looking in Ventura and Oxnard as pricing is somewhat more reasonable that what we have here in Santa Barbara. If i can connect with nearby investors, and be able to learn something and earn experience, i would be happy to. Let me know!

@Malia Domingo Well, it's possible that they're following any regulations Santa Barbara has and are doing it legally.  Or, if Santa Barbara does not permit any STRs at all, they might just be betting they won't get caught (not a wise course of action, IMO).

Definitely do the research, because if there's a way to do it legally, I'm sure you could make a killing from an apartment like that.  For example, Nashville is a city that strictly regulates STRs, and fines people in violation - but they are also very clear about what is required to operate legally, and there's a good return to be made for those who follow the guidelines.
