I am starting to look into Asheville and the North Carolina mountains (areas like black mountain, lake lure) for vacation rentals both for my personal portfolio and for my clients. If anyone has any experience with short term rentals in these areas or anywhere in NC I would love to connect and hear about your experiences.
I'm also looking at properties in these areas (outside of Asheville bc of STR restrictions), such as Weaverville, Waynesville, Fairview, Lake Lure, Black Mountain and in/around Brevard.
Can anyone recommend lenders in the area?

John is right. Asheville proper is getting worse for STR. I live in Atlanta now, but considering moving my primary residence up to the WNC area. More in Sylva/Franklin/Highlands area. I think going more west, closer to the smokies is a better bet. I've looked at this area pretty heavily and success can be had folks are looking for more of a rustic rental in these area and because its more out of the way it becomes harder to find good cleaners and handymen. I personally love the Bryson City area, spoke with a few folks that have some cool STR's out that way and laundry is a bit of an issue. Other folks in the Maggie Valley, and Boone areas are also having luck. I own on the TN side and that rental is killing it. I just can't get get WNC out of mind because i like the area so much personally but i think ultimate the TN side of the smokies has better returns.

@Cole Simpson - You can do very well in the Asheville area. Asheville city requires a Homestay permit and has some very strict rules, but outside of the city, within 45 minutes to downtown, you can do very well.
