Bay Area newbie investor looking into Memphis!

Hello, BiggerPockets community!  My wife and I recently purchased a vacation home in Sonoma County and the process got us (mostly me) interested in real estate investing.  Stumbling onto the BiggerPockets podcast and Redfin have definitely given me the bug!  Currently looking into single family homes to rent in the Memphis area (Cordova, Barlett, Germantown).  Have been lurking the forums and website quite a bit, figured it was time to say hello.

Suggestions and advice, welcome!

Congrats on the purchase of your vacation home!

Spending all day on Biggerpockets could get anybody interested in real estate investing. 

Memphis is a great market to invest in for a multitude of reasons. 

1) You will be able to get a lot more value out of your money

2) Great and stable cashflow 

3) We also see decent appreciation year over year

    Where in the Bay Area are you based? We are also based in the area and invest remotely in the Midwest. 

    We set a few hours a side each week to help others getting started in the spirit of giving back to the community.

    We do not invest in Memphis but happy to share any and all the tips tricks tools resources we used (and still use) when getting started.

    Congrats on getting the bug! I would encourage you to compare the Central Iowa(Ames/ story county) to what you are seeing in Memphis. My realtor there is an investor himself in the area and has a management company that has made life very easy for me! I have now bought a triplex, duplex, and six plex with him and now we are working on a couple BRRRR deals. Buying turn key from a company that does it is nice, but it means they make the elbow grease money instead of you! Feel free to DM me and I can get you in touch with the Ames team!
