@Gopi Goswami welcome and congratulations on getting started! Have you narrowed down a locations yet? We work with many investors in New Jersey, New York, and CT on but and hold strategies in the Midwest/Midsouth.
Hi @Shawn Mcenteer, We are looking at single and small multi family homes at this time. Thanks!
Single family to multi family makes huge difference down the road, are you familiar with lending regulations for purchasing a single family first then trying to buy a multi after?
That's a great starting point—buy and hold investing is a solid way to build long-term wealth. Since you're already learning from BiggerPockets, focus on finding cash-flowing properties in strong rental markets and understanding financing options like conventional, DSCR, or house hacking loans. Start by analyzing deals, networking with local investors, and setting clear goals for your first purchase.
Hello @Gopi Goswami Congrats with getting started on your REI journey! Remember, this is a marathon not a sprint. I would focus on analyzing real estate deals so that you will know what constitutes a "deal" to you.
Any deal should have at least cash flow or equity and sometimes you find a deal that is great with both. You make your money on the purchase!
To all who have shared their words of wisdom and offered help, I deeply appreciate your kindness. This is a great and welcoming community. I'm looking forward to my journey.
It helps to network with as many people in the industry as you can. A great way to start is by attending RE events and joining a local investors association. You can usually find some events by doing a simple google search.
@Account Closed, Thanks for the proposal. It certainly sounds like a promising opportunity. However, the time isn't right for me. If I'm interested to explore this avenue in the future, I'll reach out to you. Thanks!
@Katie Holmes, Thanks for your kind note. We live close to Newark. I must have done something odd while registering for the first time. The website thinks Newark is my location. Close enough!
