Hi everyone!
My name is Ana and I'm new to wholesaling in Chicago. Born and raised in Chitown.
I love the culture and the food, especially deep dish pizza (Lou Malnati's and Gino's ftw!) and italian beef (Al's and Portillo's anyone?)
I've been interested in real estate investing since 2003.
In 2004 and 2005, I worked as a birddog part-time and rehabbed a house in 2006.
I'd like to get back into REI as a wholesaler and possibly as a private lender after I get more experience. Focus is on the southwest side of the city.
Hobbies include volleyball, snowboarding, organic gardening, dystopian fiction.
I found out about biggerpockets through an article by Stephani Davis (TampaSteph).

@Ana N. Welcome to BP! You might want to browse the Podcasts and listen to those on wholesaling, or other topics that might be of interest. If you haven't already done so, check out The Beginner's Guide to Investing it's filled with information for every niche. Also, fill out the keyword alerts with the areas you are interested in, types of property, possibly private lending, etc. and when those subjects are being discussed you will be notified! It's great.

Hello Ana. You came to the right place! I'm a buy/fix and hold investor in the Bay in CA. But you'll find a variety of all strategies here on the website. A few tips on the website and on meeting some fellow investors:
Search for local meetups here or google a local REI club to network with other investors. On the site, the "Learn" link across the top navigation bar has lots of great info, and so do the forums. You can tag people by typing @ before you type their name, then clicking their name when it pops up at the bottom of the message box. You can click on the 'vote' button if you like someone's post or is helpful, and there are 'awards' to earn on your profile. Good luck on everything!

As a colorado native, I love chicago but am a total noob. I love Girodanos (sp) and Portillos (italian beef!) and pretty much have to go to those 2 places every time I'm there....

Giordano's is one of my favs for stuffed pizza. I lived near one for many years. I recently went to CO for the first time and loved it. Wish I could have seen more of denver though. how do you like it there?

I love it here, born and raised. If I had to live 'in the city' somewhere, I'd pick chicago in a heartbeat... love the riverfront.

@Anson Young is Denver more of a commuter town / spread out / people don't really live "in the city"? I'd love to see it in the summer time. We're also thinking of checking out boulder

Yes, its also a smaller city, so most people I'd say who work downtown live in the suburbs. Boulder is really nice, a cool vibe up there too.
Nice to meet you! I really like 60609 and 60632. That's where I'm mainly putting my bobbers out. Especially Back of the Yards, Brighton Park, McKinley Park. Lot's of fixer uppers in moderate income neighborhoods.
