Incoming Real Estate Agent looking to connect

Hello everybody, I am an incoming Real Estate Agent moving to Chicago. As I prep for my move I plan on building up a network of real estate professionals and others involved in the industry. Agents, Investors, Lenders, Attorneys, etc. I would love to connect and get your insights into the industry. I will primarily be focused on residential but will also look into commercial opportunities.

    Aidan - welcome! Chicago has an extremely active community of real estate investors. I'd encourage you to do the following:

    1. Go to the wide variety of networking events Chicago has to offer. Personal favorites would be Sarita Sells event, Chicago multifamily club, Chicago breakfast club, Roger's park builders group. 

    2. Listen to the straight up Chicago investor podcast. There's a ton of great local guests on there.

    3: there's a lot of great local facebook groups such as chicago multifamily club, straight up Chicago investor group, and Chicago friendly landlord group.

      Hey @Jonathan Klemm, thank you! I am moving all the way from upstate New York and I will be moving to the Lake View area. I love the mid west and found Chicago to be an awesome city with a lot of opportunity so I have chosen to start my career there.

    O man you picked an awesome spot to start here in Chicago @Aidan Kelly... Lakeview is primetime and I think you are going to love it!  I used to live a bit south of there in the Logan Square / Bucktown area, so many good coffee shops, restaurants, and things to do!

    Did you mention when you are arriving?   I'm sure you already know this, but the more you can get involved virtually through BP or setting up some Zoom coffees the faster things will take off once you arrive in person.

      I will likely be arriving around mid April. I can't wait to start meeting with others in the industry and learning from anyone I can!

    Welcome to the industry and honestly, you’re already approaching it the right way by focusing on relationships first. BiggerPockets can be absolutely transformational if you use it correctly. One of the best decisions I ever made was getting on the Featured Agent program years ago. Through the relationships, networking, visibility, and connections from BP, I went from being a solo operator to building a team of nearly 20 agents today.

    My advice is to immerse yourself in the community, answer questions, network constantly, and focus on becoming valuable to investors instead of just “selling houses.” The agents who truly understand investment real estate become incredibly powerful resources in their markets. Chicago is a phenomenal market to learn in too because you’ll see everything from residential to large multifamily and commercial opportunities. Happy to connect anytime and share experiences.
