I am excited to join BiggerPockets and learn all there is to know about real estate investing. Starting from ground zero here!

Welcome to BiggerPockets, Kesha! Starting from zero is actually a great place to be because you can build the right foundation from the beginning. Focus on learning how to analyze deals, understand cash flow, and build relationships with people already active in the market. Don’t feel limited to your local area either; many new investors are exploring Midwest markets where lower purchase prices and strong rental demand can create great opportunities with the right team.

Welcome to the group. We don't see a ton of Baton Rouge people here. I was studying at LSU when I first got involved in real estate a very long time ago. I'm in San Antonio now, but make it back that way every once in a while. What type of investing are you planning on? I might have a great agent contact for you, depending on your goals.

Hi Joseph! Thank you, and thanks for the warm welcome. I am interested in short term rentals at the moment.

@Kesha Fort Welcome to the BP community. You are in the right place to learn. I would also recommend joining your local REIA, networking with experienced investors and analyzing deals regularly. Best of luck on your real estate investing journey.

Welcome, Kesha! Between LSU games, Mardi Gras overfill (I would assume), and light regulation: I'd think that Baton Rouge is a great place for STR investing. For somebody like myself who lives in Denver which is highly regulated and has expensive prices, I'm jealous of you! Haha

Welcome to BiggerPockets! You can also search for Facebook STR groups in your area. Not all of them are a value-add, but can be helpful.

I wish you all the best.
