You can just show up, it's $5 to pay for the room. Tonight's meeting is very informal and there's going to food. I would call Julie though to see what you could bring. Normally there is a guest speaker but this is sort of a Christmas party/networking thing. I sent you a colleague request with Julie's number. Tell her I said hello, I'm in FL.
I am new to all this and would like to start with flipping. Then get enough to start holding. Then get into other markets and even multi family eventually. I am in Des Moines.
Would love to attend the Jan 21st meeting at 5:30. I cannot make that time. Still at my full time job till 6:00-6:15pm. Is there notes or meeting minutes that can be read at a later date?
We meet the third Thursday of the month at 5:30PM. The last time we met at Caribou Coffee on Ingersoll but there was some talk of finding a different place. Set up your keyword alerts for Des Moines and you should be able to find out the next one. There is also a google group I think it's DSMmeetup.
I'm going to be relocating from St. Louis to the Des Moines area early this summer. STL has a fairly strong wholesale network that I've gotten to know over the years and have purchased several homes from. Is there anything like that going on in DSM?
I'm not only going to be interested in investment properties, but perhaps a primary residence once I figure out the lay of the land. I'm anticipating renting at first...so if anyone has anything or could recommend any areas. Any help would be great appreciated.
Hey Rick - congrats on your decision to move to Des Moines! It's a strong RE market here - in just about every category. Neighborhood recommendations will probably depend on budget, goals, etc, but there's certainly something for everyone.
I don't have too much info regarding wholesale opportunities, so I'll let someone else chime in on that.
Thanks Taylor! I'm excited to explore the city and meet new people. I see there's a monthly real estate investor's meeting. Is this an active group? From what I can tell, the wholesaling market isn't as strong in DSM.
