Hello and welcome to BP! Anywhere in Texas is probably a good place to be. I am from and was raised in Dallas Texas, You found a good site to be on. Education is one of the main things in investment. There are a bunch of options, both short term and long term. Just do whatever you like the most and do not experience for. Find/Get a well experienced Team that will back you up and return your phone calls promptly. The regular Team guys are Attornies, Real Estate Agents, CPA's, Inspectors, and General Contractors. Just do not cut any corners to make something to look better. Always do the numbers and make sure they are real if given to you and try to look at the property if you feel like you can or at least have a clause in the sales contract that will allow you some time (normally ( typically 15 days) to inspect it and back out without a penalty that is worse than your earnest money. Right after you close on a property take out some insurance that will protect you if there is a loss. Also after you close and ASAP change out the exterior door locks. If the locks are still good just install them at another address.
I am 59 years old and I still don't know what I am going to do after I found BP about 7 months ago. I went to college, not that it is mandatory, and I got a business degree that emphasized real estate. Since I was in Texas and planned on staying there I got a broker license without having to take anything extra. I kept that license for about 30 years. Hey Roberto! Welcome! I'm currently in the Round Rock area, but have been looking north of here to the Waco area. I'd be interested to hear other opinions on that area, specifically around/near the college.
