Hello Everyone, I just want to say 'Hello' to the BiggerPockets community. I started listening to the podcast couple of months ago and I am hooked ever since. I'm still in episode 60 though. Hopefully, I can catch up to Episode 240 soon. Just a little bit of myself. I'm a young professional from Winnipeg, Canada and I just started my real estate investing venture. My friends and I just purchased our first duplex this month and hopefully we can quickly renovate it soon and rent it for September. Also, the podcast episodes are very enjoyable to listen to and it inspired me to take an action. I would like to thank BiggerPockets for creating excellent content and for giving valuable tips to new investors like me. Sincerely, Prince

    @Prince Soriano Congrats on actually taking action. These podcasts are a great source of information but a lot of times they're very location specific. You hit the nail on the head w/ regard to the motivation they can provide. 

    Impressive you've already got into the game and since you're working with a few friends, assuming the partnership is good you should be able to grow fast. 

    Look forward to hearing how it goes.

    Jacob Perez thank you for connecting with me. Yeah, we decided to partner up as a corporation first before purchasing the duplex. We have a shareholder agreement in place to make sure everyone is in the same page. Hopefully, starting as a corporation is not a mistake. Another option we had was to do a Joint Venture. But our lawyer suggested that we should do the corporation instead. Looking ahead, it might be hard for us to do conventional mortgage because we are set up as a holding company. But we'll see. Our main focus right now is to do minor renovations on the duplex we bought and get it ready for September.

    @DaveVisaya thanks Dave! I'll definitely use the site as an educational tool for my real estate investing venture. By the way Dave, our family used to live in Cebu City. My parents move here in Canada when I was 14.

    @Diana M. Thank you very much! BP really motivated me to take action. Ever since, I read a couple of books that were mentioned in the podcast and I started to gain confidence that maybe I can do this. Also, I can see that you are from Winnipeg. I'm wondering if you want to connect to discuss real estate. I'm always eager to learn and listen to new ideas.

    Hi Meghan Chomut, thank you! Yeah, definitely I would like to connect. Like you said we're pretty much neighbours hahah. Being an Engineer, some of my strengths are Project Management, Financial Analysis, and Problem Solving.

    Hello @Bryan Wesley, Thanks for reaching out. Wow it's impressive that you do 4-5 houses a month. Out of curiosity, what's the price range are you selling the houses for in Winnipeg (in terms of wholesaling)?

    Hey Prince - Shoot me a note, let's connect. I'm in the same boat as you, just became a landlord here in Winnipeg. Bought my first duplex in Feb and had it rented out in Apr. Would be great to exchange some tips and advice!

    Meghan Chomut actually we didn't get the upper suite rented for September. We are still working on the updates to increase the rent. Everything is still good though because the lower suite rent covers the mortgage. We are aiming for October now.
