I am an international property investor, currently based between London in the UK and Adelaide in Australia but have found a lot of the content on the Bigger Pockets Podcast to be useful but more importantly inspirational.

@Jennifer Stillman Hi there! I currently have a LLC set up in the UK. The tax laws have created all kinds of problems for investors that hold BTL properties in their own personal name. As you say, this creates some decent opportunities and there are lots of investors selling well below market value just to escape the tax hikes.

I am permanently based in the UK at the moment.

I havent invested in the US market as of yet. I like to be able to feel and smell my properties so havent purchased in the US yet.

Yes there are international investors here. BP is very inspirational indeed. The content is great too. While real estate investing has some commonalities across the world, the laws are different and some strategies that work in the US won’t work in most countries and vice versa. One of the things that makes a huge difference is the financing.

I’m doubly international in that I’m based in Canada and invest outside of North America. I cover mainly Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, South America and Southern Europe.

Not many people here have experience and a deep knowledge of those markets so I’m happy to share mine. Feel free to reach out.

@Justin Hunt, thanks for the post! I'm in London UK and looking at opportunities in the US and UK. At the moment I'm having a lot of tax problems so looking to connect with good accountants who understand US/UK and real estate.

Are you moving towards LLC investing in the UK with the new tax rules? Are you domiciled in the UK? On the one hand the buy to let sector seems to have a lot of repossessions coming as the tax law bites but that could create opportunity too. And if we are going to become the "Singapore of Europe" now could be exciting times. I'm still more bullish on the US market at the moment.

@Justin Hunt thanks for the reply, that's helpful. Once I am more knowledgeable on structures and tax I'll have more direction (UK LLCs may present me issues back in the US as a I have worldwide tax obligations in both countries now). Let me know if you know of any good meet ups in London and surrounds. I went to some good real estate meet ups in the US in the past but some of the ones here I see advertised have a guru air about them. I will keep looking
