Just joined this site. I am new to real estate investing. Looking for buy and rent properties in the $150k - $250k range in Staten Island, Long Island area, or close to NYC. Looking to meet others with similar interests and also any brokers, attorneys, other professionals with experience in this strategy.

Hi Gary,
I'm a wholesaler in Brooklyn area. I agree with Paul, if you haven't done so already join REIA NYC. I'm also a member and I think that the information they provide and the type of professionals you can meet there is invaluable (I'm not getting any referral commissions, so please don't ban me for saying this). Or if you haven't tried it yet, Meetup is a great source to find like minded investors. but that one is hit and miss, at least that's how it's been for me.

Thanks for all the advice. I've looked into the NYC REIA clubs and will probably look to join one of them. The cost seems a little steep with the annual fee + the per meeting fees, but I hear from everyone it's worth taking a look at for obvious reasons.

I'm still learning, so in terms of a strategy, I'm running the #s on each property that looks promising to see if it works out to positive cash flow. Any advice welcome.

Look at all these Staten Islanders. I grew up there and my parents still live there. I've often thought about trying to get into the north shore but as Phil says it looks like a tough market. Good luck and Welcome @Gary Rabinovich!
