Question About Power Pole Support Cable Near Driveway on Potential Property
Hi everyone,
I’m looking at purchasing a property that has a utility/power pole in the front yard. The main concern is that the pole’s support cable appears to be very close to the driveway and may get in the way when pulling in or out.
Before moving forward with the purchase, I’m trying to understand:
- If I buy the home, is it possible to have that support cable relocated?
- Who would typically be responsible for moving it—the homeowner or the utility company?
- If relocation is possible, is this something the utility company might do for safety/access reasons, or would it usually be at the property owner’s expense?
- Has anyone dealt with a similar issue, and if so, what was the process like?
I’d appreciate any insight, especially from anyone who has handled utility easements or pole/guy-wire relocation issues before.
Thanks in advance.
