Mercury metal on found on floor after demolition during cleanup

It was a small bit under a window sill on the concrete floor in basement. We couldnt find where it came from. We are totally clueless. No, it didnt look to be leaking.

We were vacuuming when my boy came across it.

Any ideas? I do have a video. Ill post if requested.

     What's the most likely source of mercury? An old thermometer. It probably broke open and spilled. The amount in a thermometer is unlikely to be enough to kill someone, but you should be vacuum it up and dispose of it. Do not play with it! Although it takes time to absorb through the skin, any open wounds would make it dangerous. There's also the risk of someone getting it in their mouth or eyes.
