Who’s in the Longview Texas area?

Question

Hey guys I currently live in the Longview area and I’ve been following BiggerPockets as close as possible.  I’ve noticed there haven’t been any  posts in the area for sometime. I’m curious if there are any active members in the area. I’m completely new to REI. I  have been educating myself as much as possible while on the road working in the Oil Field.  I guess my question is how is the East Texas market? If we do have active members in the area where are you finding the most success? I’m currently getting some ducks in a row then my wife and I are looking to buy and hold SFHs or small MFHs. Any advice or insight will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I’m in Longview. I own a real estate brokerage (NextHome Perkins Realty Group) and am new to the investing side. I bought two single family homes this summer and rented them both out ASAP. It’s easy to find renters in ETX!

@Christopher Weller @Patrick Dempsey Not sure how much you guys have navigated through the BP site, but you can set up a keyword alert...I have it set up for Longview, East Texas and Tyler, helps you see what's going on in those areas mentioned and network with local people.

The one piece of advice I have is don't sit on the sidelines too long, learn as much as you can...run numbers on anything that you think might work (try the BP calculators, they are awesome) and practice, practice then buy something!

@Christopher Weller I'm from Tyler. The market here in East Texas is still great...there are good deals out there, just have to sift through, run numbers and make lots of offers! What kind of info specifically are you looking for, I'd be happy to help!
