Hey friends, my name is Alex and I have been around BP for about 7 years. I'm an investor, I have been on the real estate podcast, I write for the BP blog, I'm the photographer for the BPcon event, and I absolutely love this community. This year I started a web series to showcase other BP members and tell their stories because I love sharing success stories about people and real estate. The series is called "Meet the Members" and it's been very well received, enough that BP is moving forward with a second season. Filming starts in a few weeks in Washington DC and the surrounding areas, I'm actively looking for people who would want to participate.
Who fits best:
Someone with a Biggerpockets history who is enthusiastic to share their experience with the community.
An investor with a real estate project that we can show off and tell a great story about. Ideally we will shoot the interior and exterior of the property
Live in the Washington DC area or within ~50 miles
If you haven't seen this series, here are some of the episodes:
You should come to Houston! I've been seriously investing for 5 years and recently quit my job. I BRRRR'd my way to about $40k a month in rental income. I currently have three rehab projects going on and I'm getting ready to start a 14 house new construction project.
@Alexander Felice Dude you are killing it with these videos - really nicely done. I am super-impressed and I love the format. You're gonna need some "Just for Men" soon, though :D
I just turned 37 and while I've certainly been subject to a little entropy I'm still looking pretty fly.
Hi Alex, this is a great idea and series. Let us know when you want to film in Dallas. Loads of great stories and members out here! Looking forward to Season 2!
I am nowhere near telling my success story yet as I am just starting out but my hope is that I will be able to document my journey so that I can one day thank BP for helping me to get to where I am! I just began my real estate journey in Delaware County, PA, so stay tuned!
Hi! I'd be interested! I have six units and the one that would be the most interesting is probably a SFH in Baltimore (21214) that we've converted into multiple units, including one Airbnb. There's much more drama than that one sentence conveys, so if you'd like me to share more of the story, I'd love to talk. And BP is THE reason I am a real estate investor!
I would be interested, Been involved in real estate over 30 years, I owned at 1 point 1400 units, Had a number of drama and some real home runs. W had invested in some good areas and not so great areas and was able to turn even the bad areas around to be profitable.
@Alexander Felice I would be interested if you are still looking. I have BRRRR'd to 40 units and a $3m portfolio over the last 4 years with only $25k of my own money. Not sure if Philadelphia is close enough for you but if so it might be a neat opportunity. I'll PM you if that is ok too.
If your ever closer to New Jersey, My husband & I would love to speak with you. We just made almost $80k flipping a house smack dab in the middle of this pandemic. Anything that could go wrong WENT WRONG! We still managed to raise 4 kids and come out on top. We are in south jersey 30 minutes from Philadelphia. Good luck! Ill check out your previous episodes!
BiggerPockets is definitely the reason my business partner and I have been able to aquire 60 units in Fall River, Massachusetts in only 3 years.
We are currently acquiring 14 more units including a 5 family, 3 family, single family flip and an old Catholic Convent that we plan on turning into a community home. But might be facing some challenges due to this being a new niche for us. That said we are choosing this direction because of Covid 19 and want to get more inane with state and federal funded projects since they pay rent FOR thr tenant.
I consider myself a newbie real estate investor and as such it's hard to afford solo real estate Investing in northern Virginia. So To combat that price point I partner with other investors and I manage the rehabs. iv traveled all over Virginia North Carolina as of now I'm doing my first 50/50 split with another investor to do a major rehab (iv never done something this big before) but the rehab is about 3 hours away from Washington DC because that is how far you have to go to get a house for under 200k.
If you're looking for a story of a kid that's trying to make it In the real estate investing world and probably getting into something over his head, not to brag but I would probably be a good fit.
The house is in Gretna, VA 24557
Purchase price of 30k
rehab budget of 30k
ARV of 100K Maybe 120k
The House is a disaster and needs new almost everything.
The partnership is one partner buys and sells the house while the other (me) pays for all the rehab. I'm buying all the materials and doing all the work. If I wasn't doing all the work the 30k would probably be more like 80k, I know that sounds bad but I kinda see this as me paying my dues.
We plan on selling it this fall if we can but also planing on next spring.
As of now, we're in escrow and I'm just confirming all the little details when it comes to pricing materials
@Alexander Felice relatively new investor in Baltimore, if you're looking for folks up here. Finishing a renovation on a house I bought right before covid that had a squatter. Was originally going to be a buy & hold rental, but thanks to some market appreciation I might flip it for a nice profit.
I've been in REI since 2012 turning Primaries into rentals with kids in tow. Then a relocation to Australia forced me to hire a PM and implement systems. By the time I moved back in 2017 I was full of intentionality and under the influence of BP. We cranked it up to 6 units.
Thanks @Stephanie Pulido. I'm trying to get them to come to Houston. :) I made it to full time real estate investing in 5 years. My criteria to quit my job were high. I had to make over $200k profit in real estate before I would quit. Since quitting my job in October 2019, I'll actually make $200K in the month of August alone! And I just started teaching investors how to BRRRR like I do so they can have similar results.
@Alexander Felice if you decide to venture a state and a half over to Kentucky I’d be happy to do one. I actually have access to a film crew or 2 that have done several music videos, mtv reality shows etc so you may be able to do it remotely with some direction via FaceTime/zoom etc.
I would be interested. I've been a commercial broker in downtown DC for 27 years. I started investing in small multifamily properties in DC in 2004. I shifted my focus to Frederick, MD in 2010 and currently have 23 units that I self-manage with my wife.
I live in Towson, MD and am curious how I could be a part of this. I have a househack in Towson and would be able to educate others about the criteria for picking a great location, great house set up (rooms, bathrooms, extra entrances, etc), screening great tenants, and other criteria such as parking, neighborhood involvement, etc.
Sam certainly deserves a shot at some point on one of these shows! Highly recommended.
