I know, my bad...searched job ads online for a real estate apprentice and came across an ad that made it sound like an actual apprentice program. Dove into BiggerPockets and Googled Renatus and read lots of reviews.

It's hard to actually know if I found a review of someone who actually went through the education course or is just doing the marketing side with them (basically an MLM). I went through the Rich Dad sales pitch, so I'm not naive, but I know a few people who are in MLM type of companies and are doing well.

I want to be able to leave my job and focus on investing, but I need a good pay check, sooooo long story short...has anyone been an IMA with them or know information on it? It's basically selling their education courses and getting commission from that depending on which package is bought. Of course, you get a high incentive for signing up yourself with their courses, so they make it seem like the pay-out is way more lucrative than a true MLM.

I'm pretty certain I will get not so good responses, but thought, worth a shot to see what people think!

stay away from Renatus and especially Scott Rowe. Bad news. They make it sound so easy but once you get in then they want you to buy the education. The only people making money are the ones that have large "teams" living off overrides. The education would be better if you find a local REIA group. You can learn just as much and have local people to team up with. Renatus wants you to sell the education. That's it. I got hooked into a self-directed Ira APS. And now it's in receivership and the owner is indicted and they want to take 10% out of everyone's account and I was only in it for less than a year. Stay away. Google APS receivership and you'll see.

Coach mentor is a joke. They mentor you how to sell the education not in real estate investing.

Well their education and their marketing side are all in one. You can't market for them without buying one of their education packages. They tell you in their presentation that you can start making $1000 to $10000 next week without any money up front. Then you have to watch a separate presentation that explains the education packages and funding options. The funding options boil down very simply to cash/credit card/borrow from your 401k/borrow from family, friends or associates by collaborating with them and partnering with them on the education. They have another presentation you need to watch that gives you a script on how to con your family in to giving you the money you need for the package. Very deceptive.

Jeff Ladd, you are incorrect.  You DO NOT have to buy the education in order to market for Renatus.  That is simply NOT TRUE.  I have done the research:

Maybe some more research would be beneficial. Lets see: They have a A+ rating by the BBB. They are #1523 on the Inc. 5000 List. They have been in business since 2011. You can also go by this 1st Hand Experience Review Of Renatus. This is just the research I did myself. I also have personally talked to several members and non-members. Usually the non-members never received any of the education so they were disappointed and usually said Renatus was either a scam or MLM. Which I researched the MLM end of it and they don't fall into that category. I also checked with the FTC and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Neither of which had any complaints or actions pending against Renatus. I am confident that if I decide to "join" in the marketing or education I will NOT be wasting my time.

Many if not most of the individuals I know who have been really really successful with Renatus got in at the right time, namely soon after the housing bubble burst. When you really could pick up properties for pennies on the dollar. It was a great gig for a while - the real estate opportunities fed the marketing opportunities, which in turn fed the real estate opportunities and so on... I am sure that people who were successful were indeed successful at least in part because of the education provided. But the underlying reason was that there was simply for a brief window of time a massive opportunity in the real estate market. Be careful of people who claim they were successful "because of the education" and/or marketing opportunities per se. I wont advise anybody against joining this group if you can clearly work out how it will be a good investment in and of itself for you. But the general rule of thumb and word to the wise is: smart people invest in real estate, stupid people invest large sums of money on overpriced real estate education. I would definitely discourage anybody thinking about getting involved in this group, for example, to go into significant personal debt to do so. That's not a wise investment strategy in my opinion as it may end up simply making it more difficult to break into the business while you are in a financial hole you are trying to dig yourself out of from the outset...

@Tony Hernandez while your response sounds reassuring, your history on BP (4 posts currently) makes me curious. How am I or anyone else supposed to know that you're not just another plant to reinforce the Renatus construct?

    @Jeff Ladd,

FTC Regulations prohibit requiring anyone to buy the education in order to sell it. Your statement is in error.

That said, consider: how can you speak intelligently about something you've never experienced?

THAT is the big reason why people are challenged to sell the classes without taking them...

A: So, what did YOU think of the education?
    B: Well, I don't have it yet ...

    Get the picture?

Again, the marketing side is NOT MLM - it's direct sales, much like an insurance broker's office.

Yes - we do have people who only take the classes and then do deals - quite successfully, and without the expensive missteps that the uneducated often take. Education doesn't cost - lack of education costs.

    Marketing is *NOT* required.

Thanks Kelly L. and to all for their valuable feedback on this subject.  As a Business Development Exec. and business owner, I rely heavily on research.  Thus far I am 90% decided to move in an agreement with Scott Rowe and Renatus here in AZ.

Continuing research, background and meetings (online and face to face) to reach a 95% or greater decision to move forward.  Again I value and appreciate all that have helped in this venture.

Does anyone actually use the education?  Honestly I had started out with Carleton Sheets info, then RD, and finally Renatus.  You know, what cracks me up is how we blame everyone but ourselves.

I, not like other Renatus affiliates I know, struggled.  You meet all types within, but I had to learn to let their personalities and mistakes dissuade you.  I have been with them since January 2014.

I heard all the spiels and such.  Fact is, people join for their own reasons.  It took me 2 years to get over that.

I joined for the education, period!  For all you complainers, STOP!!!  If you haven't witnessed, experienced, or used the education, you're in the wrong ballpark!

Now that I actually have gone through 15 of their courses, I actually do and feel much better.  No, I'm not rich!  I am, however, much better off financially while I still work 2 jobs.

This month, I will be down to 1 job plus my personal investing business.  There is no get rich scheme.  It takes planning, dedication, and focus.  None of which I had before.

Yes there are two things at Renatus, you can use the education and/or market the education.  Marketing the education is just an option, no one forces your hand.  It's not an MLM and you can research that all the way to the Attorney's General.  So those whom has stated it's an MLM, sorry, but you're wrong.

Many people have spent too much time on blogs and posts and less time learning anything. I highly suggest you go to a REIA too. Let me know if they don't have anything for sale there or attempt to persuade you to pay for attendance. I'm curious to know. Every RE group I have attended in the Sacramento/NorCal region asked for $$ one way other another.

BTW - For what I paid for my Renatus education, I have never been up-sold anything with them and my education is always updated as RE information changes.

Does your educational source do that?

NOTE 1 - "You meet all types within, but I had to learn to let their personalities and mistakes dissuade you."

Meant to state, "NOT dissuage you".

NOTE 2 - Retired from National Guard on Sunday; now down to 1 job and my own business.

My experience with them. I met a guy who went through their courses  Pretended to be my friend but wanted me to sign up for classes. He later admitted that they give a commission to students who sign others up. I have no doubt there are good folks who get involved but I find them too slick. Remind me of retail commodity salesmen trying to get you to invest in gold. The sales pitch is dummy downed. I heard one guy talk with grey hair twice with a year between. He was a liar with two  completely different stories. Best thing i recommend is be aggressive and pursue mentor type people. This is a networking business; for knowledge, money, and partnering.

Honestly, I not only listen to the speakers, i also evaluate the audience because one day the RE business will get over crowded with the laggards and suckers. Sorry but true. That is the time to stop and wait for the down cycle to mature and finish.

One quick thought. I have a dear friend who signed up for a $15k RE class. That was enough for a down payment on a first property! I am a technology guy who learned on my own time and aggressive pursuit of information and people. This business takes time and aggressiveness. I am now a landlord of numerous properties. BiggerPockets, meetup.com and friends i have made with similar pursuits have helped me soooo much.

Buying the first property creates the many questions and concerns you would never think of just sitting in a class. Knowledge gained is not success insured. Jump in!!!

I came across this group back in 2008. I was 24 at the time. I'm so glad I invested the 20k to join. I partnered up on my 1st short sale flip with someone in the renatus community and we made 50k on it.  Than it was 40k, than 10, 15k, 30k, checks. I bought out of state rentals and 4 unit complex. I lived in 1 and rented out the others. This education is amazing!!

I'm still active. I lead the San Diego Market. We have weekly study groups, we call home owners, door knock. So amazing!!!  Nothing like it.

    @Account Closed,

Have you ever "sat in" a Renatus class? (They're available on-line, on-demand, 24x7.)

Fair bet: The instructor would answer questions you haven't even thought of yet, even with your experience.

Actually, I have. He was describing his system for his RE business and online training business.

No, your quote is more about your experience than mine: "Fair bet: The instructor would answer questions you haven't even thought of yet, even with your experience."

My goal in any experience is to take away at least two insights. One of the insights was this: the market is getting mature. All the properties he was targeting were further "out" and less prime locations. In 2008 you could risk 1 dollar to make $100, now we are moving toward investing $100 to make $1. the risk/reward mix is changing. Some of my mentors are selling and loading up cash. There are still opportunities if you are disciplined and have a business model.

My initial turn off with Renatus is this: The sales pitch reminded me of sleazy commodities retail brokers. the pitch was slick for someone naive and greedy or jealous.  One of the speakers was an old retail broker matter of fact.

Bottom line: they charge too much. Better cheaper avenues to learn. If you are aggressive about learning and approaching people you will grow. So many people want to share their insights ... or brag.  so jump in.

A business must earn money to survive. Scott Rowe and his  wife Nancy have sacrificed incredibly to build such a fantastic business in Downers Grove. Every time I attend I learn something new, there are hundreds of very excited people there that actually form a community. Look, you get out what you put in. Another saying "You get what you pay for".

I can go all day long trying to find the saying that speaks to your heart. I won't. Like anything else you must go see for yourself and experience it, then decide. Those who fail at Renatus, Bigger Pockets or any other educational source just does not have that thing that makes them a real estate investor. It is not for every one. However just because you pay to go to school and you feel that you learned very little does not make the school at all bad. If the education taught is good and you drop out, you are the problem, not the education regardless where you get it.

Renatus education is life time education. Meaning you can go back whenever you decide even 5 years after you signed up without having to repay tuition. Then the MLM remarks. Geez! It is an opportunity for its students to make money and pay for tuition. The education on marketing alone is worth thousands of dollars alone. I see the marketing as appointment setting, you do not need to spend countless hours on the phone. If that's what you are doing you are doing it wrong. That is not what you are taught. There is no selling. the marketing musters interest, people contact you, you set an appointment and Scott Rowe and his team close the deal from there when they show up to see the business briefing. Simple.

Do they form a structured team? Yes, does the team follow tiers, levels and other requirements only until you are fully certified. Why? it helps to motivate and sets goals, this allows you to measure your progress is you are getting in at the bottom. You get to earn your way to the top. However if you already have tuition money or are willing to take the "anyone will qualify financing of the tuition" you have noting else to think about except your education.

It is untrue to say that they constantly harp on you getting other people to join. That is simply not true. However if you start as an Independent Marketing Affiliate and want bigger and better benefits or the flagship education you need to do the marketing and earn the tuition money. can anyone see that? Why does everything have to be like some other crap in the past? This is the only school that I know of that will allow you to become educated on the art and skill of marketing in order for you to earn your tuition on a spare time basis. Whats wrong with that if you have limited income and trying to work your way up? Once you are where you want to be there is no more marketing, you now paid for the ediucation and because it is real estate buying and selling, guess what now you get to look at others marketing efforts when buying then you get to use the very same skills you used to market Renatus to now sell the real estate you are trying to sell. Se how that works hand in hand?

People, please. Even bigger pockets sells a subscription based on the knowledge of other people. It's a business. So if you recommend Bigger Pockets and they make a few bucks they are scammers because they did not share profits with you? Are they scammers because you share your experiences and they do not pay you for your articles? Is bigger Pockets a scam because you have been reading it for months and have not made one deal yet? All a big resounding no! This is a incredible source of information called free by those who are not subscribed to the pro version. Just because you don't pay a fee does not mean it is free to those who maintain the site.

You get the info free because you do not want to pay for it. That is your choice. However, some people need more than a website with a mash of information. That is why on occasion even Bigger Pockets offer structured education and services here and there. There is nothing wrong with that right? It's a business! Information sells! So at the end of the day are you willing to invest in yourself and write off the expense? or continue to use paid resources that you will not contribute too. Even PBS ask for money to keep programming alive. If you do not watch and fail learn about monkeys in the Amazon does not make them bad either.

Point is. Education we all need. Check it out for yourself and avoid the prejudices of others that may not have the insight, understanding, motivation and ability or desire to pay that you do. Get a structured education or structure the education information you have available and support those that make it available.

I would simply suggest that anyone who might be interested in learning real estate investing attend a local meeting and see for yourself. Don't let other people determine your future. Most people can't do this by themselves. They need a support system and Renatus may be that support for them. Or not.  Take a couple hours and find out. It's free.

I’ve been through both side of the business. My main focus was and has been on the education and after taking their education I have to say I’m very impressed. I have since done many real estate deals and generated a very respectable income in real estate alone. The marketing side does have some great opportunity too but know like most things in life... it’s not a get rich quick with no effort marketing business. If you put in the work and have self discipline the opportunity is there for sure. If you have any other questions just pm me, happy to chat on the phone or here too, just let me know.

I have 32 years as a real estate investor.  I am a retired real estate broker in Texas (expired license 562295).  I am also a trained loan officer, trained tax preparer, and retired military officer (half career enlisted and half career as officer).  Inside the military I was an Air Education and Training Command Master Instructor. Translation--I was a trainer that utilized the Instructional System Design and Development process to build and refine courseware in support of a learning objective.  We impart Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Ability.  We work best when you LEARN.  Learning is understanding and transitions well to APPLICATION.  Application is the key.  The courseware once internalized let's real estate investors multipath each motivated seller into a series of options that are win / win.

Imagine finding Mr Don't wanter and being able to coherently offer them options like: purchasing subject-to current financing, wraparound, lease option, Or Joint Venturing to a mutually satisfactory outcome.  Result marketing systems would be exponentially more effective.  Transactional fluency, deal fluency are enabled when working in concert with your local REIAs and local agents/brokers welcoming of investor business.

The reality is this--most agents are piss poor. They themselves are all too often not investors and fail to disclosure their lack of proficiency. The NAR chartered Danger Report clearly ID's industry threats, low proficiency and low consumer regard for agents in general.

I feel marketing of any product is done poorly when the marketer can not apply the training to personal effect. One's success is the greatest testimonial. I am fluent in buy and hold, vacation rentals, commercial, subject-to, BRRR, myriad of creative acquisition tactics and technics. I am invested in OK, TX, TN, FL, and SC. I love love love real estate. Winning requires dedication and immersion within the program, the culture and also networking within your local and virtual communities to create as well as receive value. Values have value.

    Happy New to All!
