Does anyone have experience with using her foreclosure lists? How about the 3 day lab or the coaching they offer?

I really like her approach of ethical investing. She has over 1200 testimonials from satisfied investors on her site but I'd like to hear from others in this community. I'd love for her claims to be true.

I have attended Alexis McGee's seminars and taken the boot camp. I don't recommend it. Save your money, she was very accessible before the the bootcamp and became quite brusque afterwards when I called to ask questions about a deal. I also tried unsuccessfully to use their lender, but they were too conservative and I had to go elsewhere to make the deal work. She and her husband used to work with Bruce Norris, but haven't for years now. They learned from Bruce Norris. His courses are very good, I have not taken the bootcamp though.

Dan - Since you're publicly endorsing the course, perhaps you could also publicly tell us your story?

Ok an "official" Alexis McGee "wingman" here. My name is Tim Rhode and through my corporation "Rhode and Associate Inc." I am one of Alexis's four coaches. We all went through Alexis's lab and all are quite successful with our Real Estate investing and owe a large measure of our success to what we learned through Alexis and foreclosures.com. You can google my name or go to the foreclosures.com site to read my story as well as the other coaches. I've been a coach for her now for about 2 1/2 years and I find as with anything else there are successful students and non successful students. EVERYONE shares the same "dream" We ALL want financial independence, more time with family and to do the things we like to do a on a regular basis. Fire your boss etc... I found (for me when I did her lab in 2003) Alexis put together a comprehensive program to teach you how and where to find distress Real Estate. How to find the value of the property. How to fix and resell the property and make a profit in order to move on to the next one. She puts her heart and soul into all she does with the business. She also stays on top of the ever changing market to give her clients the best opportunity to profit in an ever changing Real Estate world. I think the success of the investor lies in what THEY do with the information provided, and THEIR efforts. On the question of is Alexis McGee and foreclosures.com a good vehicle to find a formula for success in investing I would say yes, do listen to the conference calls, do buy her CD's do attend the lab, and yes, do hire me as a coach (25 year investor/broker sold over 2500 properties, bought or sold over 100 for my own account. Now living the dream myself with massive passive income allowing me to ski, bike, hike, PLAY daily) The real key for you though is 'This is not like late night TV." It is hard work and never easy to change or start a new "career." If and when you do sign up for her lab or any investing program. "Play full out"
You MUST make a commitment to that program and give all of your efforts to learn and grow as an investor. You WILL NOT be an "overnight success" but with hard work and determination you may very well be "living the dream" yourself.

Thanks for chipping in, Tim. I appreciate your disclosure and hope you'll be able to help in this discussion. Hard work is the key, and anyone promising anything other than that is promising a pipe-dream. Good having you here!

BTW - Feel free to jump in and get involved elsewhere as well!

Joshua, Yes, I agree. Tim Rhode is a reformed broker, who has made a great life for himself from his foreclosure investing efforts in only a few short years. We are lucky to have him as Coach for Foreclosures.com clients.

Tim speaks the truth. This is a great business, that requires the right approach, tenacity and hard work. I am thankful that we crossed paths, starting in my Lab, just 5 years ago.

FYI, Dan Duran is a recent graduate of my Lab, who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and like many new investors had many doubts when he first started. He has made himself available to anyone who wants to speak to ask him a direct question.

They are both real investors whose statements can easily be verified.

What I find surprising is that from the early posts there were statements made by folks who never took my training, but yet you consider them authentic, just because they have posted here before.

Why have they not come forward after I asked them to reveal their true identity?

I will ask again.... Jeff F, what is your last name and why are you hiding it? Are you a client of mine? If so, what exactly have you purchased?

Golden Harper and Maria Devereaux I have never heard of you. Did you use another name when you came to my Lab? If so, what name? And why are you using a fictious name now?

If these are valid people with feedback as a graduate of my Lab then they need to come forward so we have a chance to make things right by them.

If they don't, then how can you consider anything they say to be true?

My surname is not a common name. I have no interest in giving out my surname in order to protect my wife from a long term stalker.

My question to you, Alexis, is why are you so anxiously interested in me?

Frankly, I'm not interested in your interest in me.

Therefore, I'd appreciate that you do not drag me in again because I have no interest in your "debate".

Do try to pay attention that none of my past posts contain any comments regarding participation with you or your lab.

    Thank you.

    This is just so pathetisad.

I have seen this same thing play out on forum after forum. Someone asks about Alexis McGee or one of her classes or products, there are some positive and some negative comments made. Then sooner or later Alexis swoops in demanding everyone "reveal" themselves to her so she can verify she actually did business with them. Then there is the round or two between her and others that essentially reduces down to the old "I'm rubber and you're glue" playground bit.

Ms. McGee, I know nothing about your classes, courses or sites other than these types of exchanges I've read in several places. I believe you think you are defending your brand but it does not promote a flattering picture to the outside observer.

I think everyone who has any kind of web presence could learn a really good lesson from the US Air Force in response to these types of things. They have a flow chart they use to decide when and how to respond to something online about the US Air Force. Interestingly, most of the paths lead to "just monitor".

Why? Because the people running the online presence programs for the Air Force know creating a scene about something gives it far more attention than it would've otherwise received.

As with all things in life, your mileage will most definitely vary.

I just got a newsletter from Alexis McGee. I don't know why. I unsubscribed from her service early last year. From her newsletter, I clicked on a link called, "Gurus to Avoid".

Here's part of what she says about two investors of which I have some of their books. There names are Peter Conti and David Finkel.

"Further thoughts: This part is completely speculative... however, I have to say their names bother me. I don't believe much in coincidence, and what are the odds of two businessmen getting together whom the first syllables of their names are Fink and Con. I have a slight suspicion those are not real names, and this pair did not get rich from creative RE as they claim, but rather from selling books, seminars and grossly overpriced mentorships."

I had read that a year ago before I ever read any of their books and I thought that was such an unprofessional and stupid thing to say then. I still think that.

Alexis, you're paranoid and think no one's honest about their name.

I'm not really defending Alexis McGee because I don't personally know anything about her but that quote you are referring to was actually made by someone named Brian Shaffner unless I'm reading the website incorrectly.

I pulled the quote right off the ForeclosureS.com website.

I know - I read it there also. But you will notice that that at the end of the review it is signed "Cheers, Brian Shaffner" and over to the left she explains "The "Foreclosure Guru Reviews" is a compiled list of email complaints that have come directly to Foreclosures.com. These Guru's clients requested we post their email for the world to see. Their entire email is posted "as is" without any editing by Foreclosures.com."

Like I said before, I have no affiliation with her - I just happened to read the same quote that you did and thought it was interesting because I'm interested in some of Conti's material

What is posted about Peter Conti and David Finkel on her website still reflects on Alexis McGee. I like Peter Conti a lot. He is very humble. He doesn't come across as some slick salesperson. He's just into doing a lot of lease/option puchases and I'm into wholesaling, so I'm no longer subscribing to his Insider's Club.

This will be my first post as I usually don't take the time for this sort of thing (and thus I will not argue with others on the board, only give you my opinion as they have). I am not an employee of or compensated in any way by Alexis or Foreclosures.com.

I was a chemical engineer who bought the CD's and then took the lab at the very end of '06. After the lab I signed up for one of the coaches. About 2 months later I landed my first deal while working foreclosures part-time. The profit from that one deal was about what I made at my "W-2" job, so I quit a few months later and have been working foreclosures full-time for about 1 1/2 years. I have only done 4 deals, but the profits from those still beats my old job :D Other successful graduates do many more, I just tend to be a slower learner.

I can tell you for certain that while what Alexis teaches is difficult, it definitely works. I have been my own boss and earning a living with it for 18 months now with no prior RE experience. The course, lab, and coaching was worth it for me.
The website does not always work perfectly and the data isn't 100% perfect, but I haven't found a better site yet. I've run my business easily with it, so complaints about the site seem like shallow excuses to me. If you fail to accomplish something, it's much easier to accept if you find ways to blame others!

I guess it just depends on what you are looking for. If you're just browsing courses you may want to pass, because without work and comittment the course would be a waste of $, as would anything worthwhile. If you are looking for something that WILL work if you commit to it, then I would recommend it!

I will mention one other thing that someone else brought up: even though I have known Alexis for 2+ years now, I still have never talked with her on the phone one on one. All conversations have been in person (at lab), on teleconferences, or via email. Thus, a story about her becoming brusque on the phone after lab doesn't seem to fit.

Regardless, I wish you luck and a prosperous 2009!

Brandi T you read correctly thank you for pointing out that quote was from an outside source.

Andrew C you are correct as well. And as I posted on 12/12/2008... If those posters actually took my Lab they would know I only give my time to my clients via free email support and have never been available by phone.

And thank you for your kind words. I am happy to hear you are living proof that hard work after my Lab does pay off handsomely.

Congrats and Good luck to you in 2009!

Has anyone ever heard a saying that goes like this. Even when your right sometimes it is good to be wrong. I do not know Alexis and many of you on this panel, but I don't understand from Alexis point, why she feels like she needs to defend herself.

When you go to defend yourself you automatically become a target of citicisum. You will not win, there are people who found your work to be good and those that found it to be not so good.

It is just like in the bible. Chirst came to make it better, but there was those that believed and those that did not.

Continue to be honest, strait forward and you will be rewarded in the end. From what I am reading you have those that think your work helped them and that is all you need to know. You do not need to defend your work unless it needs it and if it does that is when you need to regroup.

There's another line that goes like this iIF YOU CAN'T STAND THE HEAT, THEN GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN.

    SUCCESS BREEDS SUCCESS

Well, you can't make everyone happy. I am not much on forking over thousands of dollars for seminars, when I can buy a book and be done with it. Seems like everyone makes real estate harder than it really is. But that's just me....

I've read all this and I agree with Daniel...you cn't please everyone and Alexis does not have to defend herself. There are plenty of us successful students of Alexis out here who can prove that she is legit. I have helped many homeowners in distress and have made a good honest living doing it.

    Alexis is the best.

QUESTION: A licensed real estate agent takes Alexis’s M course and finds an investor. That investor buys a property at the auction. As everyone knows this is truly an AS-IS, cash and carry transaction. Soooo there was not the typical real estate professional C.A.R. purchase contract. There was No umbrella of protection or liability. Is the agent’s BROKER entitled to anything?

Could someone get Alexis M or another RE Broker or RE attorney to answer?

As a mailing list member of foreclosures.com / Alexis McGee, I know that there is a Daryl White who is one of their coaches. So the statements from such an individual (one of their coaches), defending the program, should not be given much credence IMO.

As to the question regarding whether a broker should get a cut of a transaction that was from the auction: check your brokerage agreement to see what rights and claims your broker has to your transactions. Have your attorney check the agreement for you if you aren't sure. Some brokers are greedier than others ...

I totally agree with Alexis MeGee on that point above!

As a rule, I never jump into these lame pointless arguments.

Just because one has never posted here before... So what?
And if another has posted here a bunch of times... So what?

The fact of the matter is this:
YOU, and others, whoever they may be,
think that one is a shill - just because the poster has praised this "guru" or that one.

But truly, that is RETARDED thinking, especially since you cannot PROVE your belief.
    That is just your OPINION.

And we all have our own...

So... why not just remain silent and respect the response at face value?

In my opinion, for what it is worth, to call a poster a shill for praising the one who taught him well is stupid. Period.

And, I have observed that there are at least 2 of you here who do this like clockwork...

Personally, I think you 2 ( and the others who do the same ) just need to get a LIFE...

But it just appears(to me) that these persons just love to have something negative to say, when we would all be better off if you just kept your un-helpful remarks to yourselves.

From my personal experience, I believe how you feel as an individual about any particular "guru" is subjective from many angles, in part is your personality, experience, investing goals, funds available, etc., I've done a lot of reading, attending seminars, investor groups etc., and I always make the most out of my time... I can always walk away with something new, even if it is just a new contact with a like-minded individual. It is disappointing and a shame to see this particular "guru" harassed and badgered like this on BP, I have seen other "gurus" here who I would (from personal experience) group with Alexis. To comment briefly about a negative experience is one thing, but to go on and on is another. It is good if "gurus" police one another, it is up to us, the consumer to do our own research. This lady has some good insights, I do not agree with everything she does, says, promotes, etc., but let's at least have some common decency here? Maybe it's just me, but I am disappointed to see so much bashing. -- Dawn

I left my career in tech and was excited to start a new career in real estate, specifically flipping houses. Unexperienced and eager to learn, I did research to try and find a mentor who can help me get up and running, fast. I stumbled upon Alexis and she sold me on her brokerage, her real estate expertise and mentor program. The price tag was steep, $2500 for 5 sessions, with the option to renew once the package ran out. Being eager, I decided you have to invest in what you want and she seemed to be the right fit. Little did I know her service was a scam (as you can see below from other posters) She claimed she would "keep me busy". Which never happened. I found my self feeling lost and confused after her sessions. Midway through she decided she wanted to move me off what I had hired her for, learning how flipping houses to wholesale. What? That is not what I signed up for. I wanted to learn what she claimed she was an expert in, flipping. She got me caught up in another wholesale deal which I knew was going nowhere and persuaded me to pay another $2500 in order to get her help on this wholesale deal. It went nowhere and now I had just paid her an additional $2500?! I canceled the service immediately because this wasnt what I wanted to do or signed up for. I requested a refund and she refused. It is unethical for someone to charge for a service they dont deliver on. If she was that successful her reputation and integrity would be worth more than $2500. Be careful of this woman and her promises. I am taking her to small claims court and reporting her to the BBB.
