Hey investors. I was curious if BiggerPockets had any investors in the Rochester, NY or Buffalo, NY area. I'd love to ask you a few questions if you'd be up for it.
Hi all! Looking to invest in Rochester and looking for a good agent who I can work with almost exclusively. Want to invest in the next 2 months in a duplex or triplex there. I'm based in NYC so I am also looking for recommendations for a great management company.
If anyone has recommendations for the specific areas/zip codes to invest it would be much appreciated as well. Tia!
Hello all! I am a brand newbie looking to invest in Rochester area as well, from California. I'm a teacher, worked very hard to save and my husband and I have a new baby, so I'm very eager to have a good experience. I've sent colleague requests to many people in this thread.
Hello All, I am also a new investor looking to aquire my first property in the next few months. I would love to be a part of any virtual meet-up efforts that we can organize. Look forward to hearing from you all. -KelvinOriginally posted by @Anne Cantwell:

id really love to get some advice on the specifics of investing in Rochester. I met some investors from my area in California who are successfully renting to students and Id like to use their management system and advice to model from. But id like input on strategies when looking at various property choices for sale. Is anybody familiar with renting in the 19th ward? I noticed reasonable prices there, which I might be able to buy in cash, but I wouldnt want to end up with a headache to manage in a stressful area. Ive also been considering the 14623 Henrietta area.
Id like some guidance on what to ask the real estate agent Ive introduced myself to. Does anybody have some articles on here to suggest so I can read up on inspections and choosing a SFR or duplex wisely?
Hey everyone, I am new to BP and would like to move into investing, hopefully in Rochester, NY since thats where I reside ( but im learning that shouldn't limit me). I currently house hack with 1 buy and hold property and am hoping to get another by summer of 2019 to rent out.
@Anne Cantwell the 19th ward has some really good deals, but some of it is really ideal for students where some of it turns out to be a little more of a shady neighborhood. I lived in that neighborhood for 2 years, and am also now looking into it for a buy and hold. As for Henrietta, houses are a little more spread out which is nice, however one thing I knew about ( and don't know if it has changed, is the town of Henrietta limited the amount of non related people living in a house to 3 members... making it more difficult for student housing, but not impossible with the right house.
@Michelle Katnich I'd be very interested in hearing about your experience with investing long distance, and that property manager of yours!
I am still very "bullish" about Rochester market. The prices have creeped up roughly 9-15% since the inception of this thread but it's still a good buy. More and more people are finding out about it and are buying up everything thus causing inventory deficit. There are still some really great deals out there where you can make very decent ROI.
Have you ever been to the city? I suggest driving around and looking at a few opportunities. Good luck !
