Want to learn property management basics for managing my properties

I want to learn various topics of property management, be abreast with ever changing Landlord-tenant rules, and make sure all my properties are managed in a professional manner. 

Where do I start with, to learn about Property Management in San Diego, California.

    @Gash Nookala, every state has state specific laws. You will want to find these and be familiar with them.

    Hey Gash, great to see you diving into this — managing your own properties can be super rewarding, but there’s definitely a learning curve.

    Since you're in San Diego, I'd start by getting familiar with California-specific landlord-tenant laws — they change often and can trip you up if you’re not up to date. The California Apartment Association is a solid resource for that.

    Beyond the legal side, it’s really about building systems — how you screen tenants, handle maintenance, collect rent, keep records, etc. Start small, maybe with just one property, and create repeatable processes as you go.

    Hey Gash,

    I agree with the prior posts that The California Apartment Association is a good resource to learn about CA landlord-tenant laws.

    I would also recommend checking out our local Association of Realtors (SDAR). I recently took a good class there on Property Management. It was taught by a veteran property manager and covered local laws, contracts, disclosures, etc.

    The state and local laws are always changing, so it's good to get some current information on this.
