Sorry for my very delayed response. I did not contact anyone. I did receive an email 14OCT from Frederic Robinson about filling up a survey.  You should receive one too. It was advised not to share to anyone, but if you have already in contact with Charles Adams, you should receive it.

Hi everyone. I hope I'm not too late to the party, but I'm currently working on a documentary on the "Mobile Home Queen" and her accomplices. I've managed to compile a lot of information online about her Ponzi scheme from various sources. Some of your quotes from this thread will be used as supporting material in the production.

As some of you may have guessed, a lot of information about her has been removed since her case came to light so it's sort of difficult to piece this story together

If anyone has any information they'd like to share that would help paint a clearer picture of her actions and the damage she's caused, please reach out to me. I'd love to chat with some of the actual victims of these terrible people.

This story coming out any time soon???

Everyone wants to get paid, but he is an appointed trustee. You will not see any money returned with the sale of her million-dollar home; it will all go into his pocket!  That should piss everyone off!

I agree, unfortunately in many of these situations the money is long gone and people are hoping there is something there. When people reach out to me on what to do, my first response is: assume its all lost and if you get something consider it a win - but do not expect to get your initial investment back so people can prepare accordingly.

keep in mind if they have independant legal council ( defense Lawyer not state provided) those lawyers demand Large up front retainers. usually in the hundreds of thousands to half a million .. thats where a lot of the investors money ends up.. Investors pay to sue them themselves and the defendant uses their money to pay for their lawyers.. Kind of like a divorce were couples use their own resources to fight each other and end up broke.

Yes - well lets see what percentage I do get back - I did not have any legal fees as I went straight to the receiver ... I will be shocked if the attorneys take 90% of 15 million or the 30 million they have proof was paid out ... I'll ask the receiver later when I call him - thanks for responding everyone - will let you know the outcome!

Charlie just sent an email last night with Van Gundy's guilty plea.   Sentencing is in August, let's hope it includes some housing in a federal project where three meals are provided (jail).

Even with Charlie's best efforts, I doubt that there will be much if any recovery.   It's not like she and her fellow perpetrators kept all the money in a jar on Funk & Wagnals porch (an old Johnny Carson reference).  They spent it on toys, high living, and such.   It's like when you hear about wealthy athletes or former movie stars going broke.   I heard someone refer to is as they spend as if they were at their top earnings and when the money starts to dry up, they spend even more.    And finding any of it is pretty expensive.  As an aside, I also lost over $100,000 in this scam.

An old friend of mine is one of the top bankruptcy attorneys in the country.   He's dealt with a number of these scams.   Told me that the only time they paid off the investor victims was when the perpetrator unexpectedly passed away and happened to have millions in life insurance that they were able to attach.   I think that the guy they collared for Bitcoin fraud may be another example because the Bitcoin he bought illegally actually appreciated.   But those are few and far between.    We've probably got a tax loss that we're going to write off.

The only possible "deep pockets" I see are the agents and independent sales representatives that sold these "investments," especially if they have security or insurance licenses.   Some of these folks made significant commissions on the sales of these "investments," and obviously did not do any due dilligence on the scheme.

very realistic assessment of the situation.. During the GFC I knew many colleagues  Other brokers and builders and lenders like me that simply never altered their lifestyles as the world was collapsing and lost everything. Robbing Peter to pay Paul never works out for them.

I worked for a big syndicator in the 80s who had a huge business 1b in AUM and it was going down hill he did that robbed from his good projects to prop up the losers so he could claim he never had a loser until he lost it all and ended up in San Quentin. During the final year he went out and bought a Rolls Royce  in total denial.

To make this clear, she did not plead guilty to a scam, she pleaded to one count of wire fraud and filing a false tax return. The wire fraud had nothing to do with the mobile homes.

Yes it does - the receiver called me and emailed me / he traced more than 18 million she paid to a good number of people (her syndicate) and to avoid a long drawn out process in court she has pleaded guilty to 18 million of it - call the receiver yourself and get your facts right.

False Tax Return: In addition to the wire fraud, Van Gundy admitted to underreporting her 2021 income. She and her husband reported a total income of $168,296, significantly less than their actual income, resulting in over $77,000 in unpaid taxes.Express News+2Express News+2BiggerPockets+2

As part of her plea agreement, Van Gundy faces up to 20 years in prison for the wire fraud charge and up to three years for filing a false tax return. She is scheduled for sentencing on August 7, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia. Additionally, she has been ordered to pay $7.3 million in restitution and penalties by the SEC, along with a $6.5 million fine, following a default judgment in a separate civil case.Express News+1Express New

It was a plea deal; she only pleaded to one count of wire fraud and one count of tax fraud for filing a false return. You get your facts right. When you choose to invest, you take the risk; like with any investment, there are risks. I think those who invested saw this as an opportunity to make an enormous amount quickly, out of greed. No actual investment has that ROI.

Her plea deal of 18 million came from the investments we all made with her … great job from the Attorney's is recouping it … so not sure what your trying to say!!? Her ROI is not unusual for overseas investors - maybe different here in the US?

Her plea deal of 18 million came from the investments we all made with her … great job from the Attorney's is recouping it … so not sure what your trying to say!!? Her ROI is not unusual for overseas investors - maybe different here in the US?

are you saying there is 18 million in some bank account that the trustee has control over and will be making distributions ?  if so that is exceedingly rare event.

Yes, but she did not plead guilty to the 18 million; it was for wire fraud and tax fraud. You can read the court documents stating that she pleaded guilty to wire fraud and tax fraud. She never admitted or pleaded guilty to 18 million. Maybe you and all the investors should accept that investments are risky, and you will never see restitution.

You and all the investors should have done due diligence before investing. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

No, that is not what I am saying. She did not plead guilty to the fraud scheme: wire fraud, one count; tax fraud, one count; and filing a false tax return. The receiver did not find the 5 million said to have been transferred to an offshore account. You probably will never see the 1.2 million sale of the home; the receiver works for the court, and courts tend to keep what is seized. They do not care about you or the investors.

Correct the $18 million was for wire fraud which means it was the amount they found she had wired to approximately 20 people. I spoke to the receiver myself.

Since you do not understand, and the receiver is just a court-appointed receiver, he does not know the particulars of the plea, as he was not privy to that. The wire fraud was small and had nothing to do with the 18 million. Since you can read what you like into it, I know more than you about this case. But you will think what you want to believe. The point is that she took a plea without admitting to 18 million. Have a nice day, Louisa.
