I use Cort Furniture Outlet which has solid, used furniture at respectable prices. They have deals to furnish apartments starting around $1700 (living, dining, and bedroom). They even have financing available to soften the burden of the upfront costs.

Tell all your friends / family they may want to get rid of furniture. If you drive around nice neighborhoods (right before trash day) SOMETIMES you can get lucky and find nice piece of furniture. **** I would also try storage units. I know of a guy that sells furniture out of a storage unit (In Florida) and that is literally his job. Just ask around a big storage facility.
Have a look at Catalog, https://www.catalog.homes/categories/cheap/. This website is a registry of most furniture stores available in the US organized by styles and price points. It may help you to find the furniture that match your tastes and budget
