Hey @Dany Kao, one thing I found in my first listing is that we didn't have a ton of direct messages and contact initally but if you look at your listing, there is a section on FF for "unfilled demand". Basically, these are people that are looking for housing but put their application out there almost like you listed your unit, we started reaching out to all of them with the unit available and started getting 10-20 applicants and inquiries almost immediately.
I recommend using that feature and drive some of your own business in that way.
I have a bit of a different perspective. I am a traveling healthcare professional. The big issue (no pun intended) I see is that the house is too big. Most travlers travel alone, or with one other person. They do not need (or want to pay for) a house of that size. If you move to renting out by the bedroom, be cognizant that most travelers do not like sharing a bathroom. I will share a bathroom, but the price has to be significantly lower than renting a room with my own bathroom. Also, I can see that parking could be problematic. In theory you COULD get 4 cars in the garage/driveway but roomates who do not know each other are not going to want to coordinate coming and going. I would recommend having 2 "reserved" spots (that you could charge a little extra for) and then the other two park on the street. I also recommend putting more pics of the bedrooms on your ad. Demand has really gone down and pay has gone down too. RNs are making what CNAs made and CNAs are making little more than they do at home. So with a tightening of what they pay us, we cant afford to pay as much toward housing as we used to. Thank you for making it pet friendly. Many of us travel with pets, so that will really help get your place filled. As others have said, post on Facebook marketplace. Also, make sure you have a personal email or number on your FF ad and ask that they contact you directly and not through FF. Idk if they have gotten it fixed or not, but for awhile FF messaging system was messed up and was not sending messages through. Best wishes!
Hey Dany, try posting your furnished rental on Zillow. This is a free platform and a majority of renters go to platforms like Zillow rather than Furnished Finder because of their familiarity with the website. I have an MTR listed on Zillow and receive many inquiries from insurance companies, corporate relocators, and families looking for a vacation.
make sure you're contacting everyone who's looking for housing in your area, even if your place isn't a perfect match for them!
consider renting it by the room to traveling professional only, to keep money coming in. a lot of traveling pros are looking for super affordable options and don't mind sharing their space, and filling a 4b unit is hard.
be sure to post an 'ad' about it in all travel nurse fb groups, especially local ones, with all nearby cities and medical centers typed out in the post, for people who search those terms in the groups. the posts will then live in those groups for months and months to come, for anyone looking for housing in the future.
consider putting in the work to build relationships with insurance displacement agencies. if this interests you, check out jesse vasquez on instagram.
@Dany Kao what one poster was refering to is reaching out to unmatched leads on FF. They are on the tenant leads page on your dashboard under matched leads. My guess is the house is too big so that might not be a great solution. I know some people look for insurance placements through ALE solutions or corporate rentals. The size of your home may be a better fit for that. Also if there is a university nearby you could look to match visiting professors but not sure if that would work in your area.
Hi, I just posted my furnish rental in furnish finder but is not getting much attraction. It’s 4 beds 3 bath single family home.
Please let me know any tips or other platforms that I need to try for mid terms!
Hey
Based on my experience your home is too big unless its in a very desirable area and is renovated nicely at that point maybe attracting vacational people is best like on AIRBNB.
But home is too big id shoot per bedroom, but pricing must be right otherwise those individuals will not want to share with others.
check out the unmatched leads section and shoot them all a message. Sometimes you can work out a deal with those tenants. Also, make sure you have professional photos and that you have the property priced correctly based on the market.
Furnished Finder has been a site used by a lot of traveling medical professionals and other travelers but most of the requests I see are from single people or couples, most guests in the markets I am in want smaller accommodations.
For larger properties, corporate relocations and housing displaced or relocating families is a great target audience. You can list on sites like ALE Solutions or Temporary Housing Directory to register your property to be in the database for insurance companies.
