People Respect What They Invest In

One thing I’ve learned over the years in real estate and business is that people tend to value what they invest in.

When I first started having success in this industry, I tried to make myself available to almost everyone. Coffee meetings, phone calls, quick advice, “pick your brain” conversations… if someone reached out, I usually tried to help.

I remembered what it felt like to struggle early on and wanted to give back where I could.

But over time, I noticed something surprising: a lot of the people asking for the meeting would end up no-showing the very call they requested. No message. No heads up. Nothing.

And honestly, the older I get, the more I realize it’s not really about the meeting itself. It’s about respect for someone else’s time.

Most people in business are balancing:

  • -family
  • -responsibilities
  • -teams
  • -clients
  • -projects
  • -and personal commitments

Time becomes one of your most valuable assets.

One thing I’ve observed is that when people invest their own time, effort, or money into learning something, they usually approach the opportunity differently. They show up more prepared. More focused. More committed.

That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t help others. I still believe strongly in mentorship, community, and giving back. But I also think protecting your time and energy is important, especially as responsibilities grow.

At the end of the day, reliability matters.

In real estate, business, and life, simply showing up consistently already separates people more than they realize.
