Is long distance wholesaling a workable strategy?

I live in a small rural town with very few investors buying. I’ve started looking at other markets (specifically Grand Junction and Colorado Springs, Colorado) in hopes of building up a small wholesaling business. I’m just wondering if any experienced wholesalers have done long distance wholesaling and what extra hurdles I will need to over come.

@Shaun Morgan.. if you do start wholesaling in grand junction let me know. We live in Glenwood Springs. We currently have a rental in GJ that we bought last year and would like to add another this year. Thanks!
