What are some things you wish you knew getting started in the Real Estate World?

Hey everybody! My name is Mason, and I just started a new job as a disposition agent. This is my first real experience in the real estate industry, so I’m excited to learn as much as I can.

For those of you who have been in real estate for a while, I’d love to hear your advice for someone just getting started in sales.

What are some tips, lessons, or mistakes you wish you knew when you were first starting out? Anything from building relationships and negotiating to finding buyers and closing deals.

Tips would be focus on prospecting and finding as many leads as possible. Then use a CRM to convert those leads to clients and closings. It's a grind but you have to track and have a schedule of what you are doing with your day

@Mason Gilbert, one thing I wish more people understood early is that real estate is really a relationship business. I’ve worked in real estate from several sides, and I’ve learned that people remember how you communicate, how honest you are, and whether you actually follow through. A deal may only last a few weeks, but the relationship can bring business for years. I would focus on learning how to listen well, ask good questions, understand what the other person really needs, and never promise something just to get a deal done.

I’ve also learned not to rush the process just because you are new and want to prove yourself. Know the numbers, understand the contract, keep good records, and ask questions when you are not sure. Some of the best lessons in real estate come from slowing down before making a decision. I’d be glad to stay connected and see how your career grows as you get more experience in the industry.
