They haven't answered me yes or no yet...but I'm just getting a bit nervous because when I googled some of the tenants names, several of them had criminal records for drug trafficking etc (which could be a name coincidence but what are the odds it happened on 3 of the 5 tenants?)

I get if it was a shared house or short term rental, but for a long term rental, I would find it odd that my landlord feels the need to see who comes and goes.Thanks for your response but what's the difference between it being shared or long term.
