Robin Simon

Robin Simon is the President of Harpoon Capital, a private lender serving real estate investors nationwide with best-in-class DSCR Loans, and the author of The Book on DSCR Loans. He is also Managing Member of GAM Hospitality, which owns and operates a roughly $5 million portfolio of short-term and medium-term rentals in Austin, Texas. He works on both sides of the closing table, as a lender who prices, structures, and closes investor loans and as an operator who manages furnished rentals through the same market cycles his borrowers face.

Experience

Robin has spent his career in investment real estate finance. Before founding Harpoon Capital, he was a Partner at Easy Street Capital, where he oversaw the EasyRent DSCR lending platform and specialized in financing short-term rentals, medium-term rentals, and BRRRR strategy investors. Earlier, he served as Chief Investment Officer of Stronghill Capital, focused on the origination and portfolio management of small-balance commercial and investment residential loans, and as a Manager in EY’s structured finance consulting group, working on CMBS securitizations.

Robin is one of the most widely read voices on DSCR lending. Beyond The Book on DSCR Loans, he is a longtime BiggerPockets contributor, a frequent podcast guest, and an active participant in the BiggerPockets forums and on social media. He is passionate about sharing transparent, actionable insights from “behind the curtain” of the lending process, including how rates are actually priced, how deals are actually underwritten, and how investors can use financing to build lasting wealth through real estate.

Education & Involvement

Robin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & History from Vanderbilt University and a Master in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a licensed CPA and active in the Austin real estate community, having served on the Leadership Development Council and membership committee of the Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA).
