Seems like we were just answering this question. Time flies.

  • What are your goals for business in the coming new year?
  • What part has BP played in your business this past year?

I want to say Thank You to all of you that have helped me this past year, with your answers to my posts. I wanted to @mention all of you, to pull you in here, but there's too many!

Merry Christmas everyone, and here's wishing you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous and Happy New Year! @Joshua D. @Brandon Turner all your hard work is appreciated!

My Goals:

1. Transition my full-time job into a part-time job, this will happen in April.

2. Bite the bullet and work as real estate agent for six months to a year for experience. Who knows, I may like it.

3. Open a property management company in the fall, possibly in the spring if I can find the right partner. I'm in full blown biz planning mode.

4. Get my broker license in July. This is the driver for the fall PM company launch.

5. Add two income properties to personal portfolio.

On the personal side:

1. Volunteer more of my time to good causes

2. Take one MBA class. I took last year off and regret it. I'm six classes out when I should be at four or five. Small bites

3. Run a marathon. At 15 miles now and hope scheduling works out to run in the Mardi Gras marathon in Feb.

4. Continue to live primal. Google primal blueprint. @Ann Watkins I read "Grain Brain" a couple of months ago, great health book, changed my life.

5. Get my six-pack captain's license. I'm scheduled for an April course.

6. Read often and start writing

7. My wife and I are going to start making homemade wine.

8. And above all else: Live, Love, and be Happy!

Thanks for all your inspiring goals. We should compare results next year this time.

Whenever I see lists of goals it reminds me of Robert Fulghum who says he makes a list of all his major accomplishments from the prior year (2013) and then puts that year's date at the top of the list and writes: New Year's Resolutions for 2013.

Maybe it's one way to avoid feeling bad about missed goals.

Help 3 newbies start their real estate investing career. I enjoy mentoring new investors - helping them find the deal, line up contractors for them, and help finance the deal. Nothing like seeing someone make 15-20k on their very first flip

Our goals are to keep repairs + capex to 15% for 2014. We are nearing the end of year #5 and have bought distressed properties and upgraded, and even with the help of various state weatherization subsidy programs, we've spent 40% give or take on repairs and capex minimum per year .... and still been in the black every year despite. Now we need to reduce this number, let everything hum along on all cylinders and enjoy some of the rewards for the 5 years of sacrifice.

    Thank you @Michael Walker

It always helps to have a road map of sorts, even if you get lost you can see where you took a wrong turn.

    1. Payoff credit cards. 2. Stop reading and start doing. 3. Begin REI career by wholesaling at least 12 properties. 4. Build enough capital to renovate my house and save for future properties. 5. Workout 3 days per week. 6. Build connections and gain experience so my husband can quit the military and invest in our own REI business.

This year I've decided I wanted to get more aggressive and better prepared to transition out of the 9-5 (if it were only 9-5) job...my goals towards that in 2014 are:

1.) Get real estate agent license.

2.) Purchase at least 4 more 'doors' (100% increase).

3.) Flip at least 1 property.

4.) Start a blog, why not?

5.) Most importantly, spend more time with my kids (which is why I want to move away from the 9-5 to begin with).

Have not been on the site in a bit. I plan to stop by more often and gain from the wealth of knowledge here at the site. Going to become more involved with commercial transactions.

Next year I plan on purchasing 3 SFH this year. I also am going to purchase my first multi-family home. I am also going to do my first flip this year. I would also like to add a business vehicle.

#1 - Graduate college in May.

#2 - Successfully complete transition to Charlotte, NC and become active in the local REI network. Find a mentor in the area in order to learn more about the Charlotte market, flips, and financing strategies while providing value to the mentor through the use of my skills and experience.

#3 - Purchase second investment property, this time being a 2-4 unit distressed property in Charlotte, NC. Move in to the property and gain "hands-on" experience with rehabbing.

#4 - Develop and stick to a workout schedule. Senioritis (ie. laziness) is no excuse to get out of the habit of exercising and eating right.

#5 - Find ways to volunteer in the local community; preferably find mentorship possibilities for at-risk youth.

#6 - Enjoy life and be content with what I have now without losing the ambition to better my personal life, corporate life, and financial position.

    Hi Everyone,

    First Post!

My goal in 2014 is to invest in my first property. I am considering a B&H multi family approach.

Bigger Pockets has really inspired me to begin a RE business and it has definitely empowered me with new knowledge to have the confidence to do so.

Welcome aboard, Richard. What is a B&H multi family approach? Buy and hold?

My goal is to buy my first property (buy and hold)...keep up with weekly introspection to keep on track for my yearly goals both professionally and personal...I believe BALANCE is very important as I tend to concentrate on 1 thing and neglect other areas....also, would like to sell my first house with my real estate license...it's gonna be fun...!!!!!!!

Agh! I feel bad that my goal is to NOT buy any rentals and just maintain, pay off and horde cash.

This year I'm going to focus on building an online business model (non-real estate) so I can have a third stream of income and eventually transition out of the 9-5.

Here are our goals for 2014:

-- Refinance at least one of our properties (2 if the appraisal is right) and increase working capital.
-- We are going to move out of SFR's (we have 5) and move into multi-family. We're looking for at least duplex's but prefer Quad or higher.
-- Increase our monthly revenue stream by 1,000/month on new properties.
-- Purchase at least 1 multi-family. We have 1 because it will be our first and we want to be diligent and make sure we learn a lot on the first one before getting to gung ho into the rest.

Yes, these are conservative goals and we have it that way while we jump into multi-family.
