New Rental but Don't have Tenants contact information.

I just finished closing on my very first investment today. I have been working with an agent and thought the process I have been asking him to get me the information but he never did. He would always just say, oh I'll get it next time.

So my question is how could I get my tenants contact information. For reference, I live in California and the property I bought is located in Akron, OHIO. What would be the best approach for someone who just got their first rental property.

It should be on the copies of the leases you definitely got before closing. You have those right? Is it on The estoppel that the tenants signed saying everything stated in the lease was current and correct? You know their address, you have forms with the seller’s info. These are all things yoru agent should have and still should do for you, but that you could do yourself in minutes. I just wouldn’t use them again if this is beyond their ability, maybe it was their first rental sale?

Like the others said, I hope you got copies of the leases (and the security deposits). The leases should have that info on it. Call your realtor back and tell them you need that information now. The seller should have given the tenant your contact information at closing as well.

Thank you all for the reply!! I was getting scared but I contacted my realtor last night and he told he does have leases with their information. But I think for my first one it would be smart to hire a property manager. I just wasn’t sure how the whole process was going to go as it’s my first time. Thanks again!!

Congrats on taking the first step into real estate and DOING IT! You will learn many "lessons" with this first one, so don't be hard on yourself, just take everything in stride and look at things with a learning lens.
Your realtor should have all of that information for you though, I'd reach out to them again and I also recommend hiring a PM.
