I just got funds to purchase my first flip property. Im curious as to how you get quotes from contractors. Do you have a property under contract and then during your due diligence find the contractors to come give bids or is it advantageous to have interviewed a few before hand? Any referrals in my area will be appreciated!

@Thomas Bouchereau  I would start getting some lined up now.  You may need to pay people for their time (walking property), but that's just a cost of doing business.

You should have a contractor walk the property with you before making a offer. You can explain what you would like to accomplish, this will help you understand the property better and will allow you to better facilitate your game plan and offer amount. Finding the right G.C that will be willing to walk properties on spec will be a little difficult , unfortunately . I am a flipper and G.C  so I have a advantage over most. But if I was not in this position that is what I would do. If you need my help just P.M me and if I am available I can walk a couple properties with you.

I would recommend making the connections now and then having them come give you quotes during the due diligence period.

No sense in wasting their time or your on properties you don't have under contract.
