What books have you found most helpful?

Has anyone read any books that they thought to be particularly helpful? I’m pretty familiar with a lot of the bigger hitters, but would love to discover some books with less notoriety.

Thanks!

@John Neff

You said you had read the heavy hitters, so I'll take that as rich dad and Millionaire Real Estate Investor. The most helpful book I've read so far has been Never Split the difference by Chris Voss, not real estate specific, but I applied it to REI as well as my job, and it was huge on my last offer.

    @John Neff.

    Hi there - great thread :-).

    Here are my top books:

    Mindset by Carol Dweck - teaches to foster a growth mindset and that the pursuit itself of a skill or goal versus the end result and the embrace of failure on the journey is far more beneficial than to never try at all.

    The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson - the importance of small daily actions will lead to big results overtime.

    Rich Dad, Poor Dad - got me started on my journey in real estate and wealth creation. More importantly to break out of the worker drone mentality.

    A more under the radar book is Rental Houses for the Successful Small Investor by Suzanne P. Thomas. Really breaks it down and helped me better understand the process

    @John Neff

    Some great books with real in depth detail are here on bigger pockets. I have recently read :

    Rental Property Investing

    Book on Flipping Houses

    Book on estimating Rehab costs

    90 Day Journal ( good to focus on goals)

    Other good overall business mindset books and general personal development books are:

    Any Tim Ferris’s book

    Extreme Ownership

    Unshakable (finance)

    Work the system

    Awaken the giant within

    The millionaire fast lane

    The E-Myth

    10x rule

    Next on my reading list is:

    David Greene's BRRRR book

    Long distance real estate investing

    Landlording on autopilot

    When I first started reading stuff I didn’t want to waste the time or money on books, what started as a small habit of maybe a few pages a week or so turned into about a book or 2 a month and a large library of books, definitely attribute my progress over the last few years to the books I’ve read!! Hope some of these help!

    @John Neff Not real estate related, but the E Myth has been blowing my mind lately. That book gives such a great layout of how you should structure your business for how you want to live your life. 👍🏾📚

    Cashflow Quadrant is great for developing a framework on how to think about investing, specifically using assets to buy/offset liabilities.

    This book changes the way I looked at money, paying myself first, and how to make your saving grow. Easy to read and goes well beyond real estate to everyday life.

    It's not exactly real estate related, but I really enjoyed The Go-Giver by Bob Burg.
