Military Vet looking to get started

Hello all, 

 I am retiring from the Armed Forces next June after 20 years of service, and will be receiving a monthly check I want to use towards house hacking and flips to start making some income and cash flow to get started, any advice appreciated. Thanks

Are you doing this with the ultimate goal of doing buy and hold? If so I'd recommend not getting too sidetracked with things like flips and asking how you can get straight toward the passive income goal.
