Looking for a Real Estate Investing Coach

I am a rookie to real estate and interested in purchasing a multi unit property next year. I complete the BP Rookie Bootcamp and I want to invest in REI one-on-one coaching with someone that is experienced in purchasing multi unit properties. Please send references! Out of state is fine too.

Real estate coaches are typically awful ideas as you will pay someone to tell you what you can find on YouTube and BP but what’s worse is their opinion may be an awful one.

You want to learn from many people not one person.

    Real estate coaches are typically awful ideas as you will pay someone to tell you what you can find on YouTube and BP but what’s worse is their opinion may be an awful one.

    You want to learn from many people not one person.

    I would recommend that you check out Rod Khleif, Jake & Gino, Michael Blank, or even Joe Fairless on the pricier side. They all have plenty of free resources which allows you to vet them before you even get on a call to see if it makes sense for you to work with them. Good luck!

    Before you pay anyone, go through all the free content on BiggerPockets and the web.

    I would also strongly suggest going to a few meetings at your local REIA and networking.

    Offer to add value in some capacity (bird-dogging, running errands, etc) for those with experience in exchange for them letting you tag along on a project. Learn the ropes and then partner on a project with them where you bring in some capital.

     Really good point. Not to mention, some people mistake paying a mentor for “starting out in real estate”…. As if it’s an accomplishment. It certainly is, for the mentor who cashed your check, assuming he / she is the guru type.

    Learn by doing, too many people want mentors or coaches as a pillow so they make no mistakes. The greats learn from mistakes they've made and are not scared to take risks.

    Great move on your part thinking of hiring a coach. With that said, you need to find one that fits your style and what your goals are for the year. One of my first coaches was for my mindset. I had to look past my past (pun intended) in order to see what I needed to do. This is a mind shift completely if you want to be successful. 

    Write down what you want from a coach first and then go vet a person that works for you.

    Not sure you'd really need a coach, that's money you could spend on a deal. 

    Where there specific struggles your facing that makes you feel like you need coaching ?

    Have you considered the David Greene Mastermind program? It’s $250/mo for a year minimum ($3k/yr) but might be worth it if you really want to get 1-1 time.
