Hi,

I’m looking to volunteer my time in exchange for training/ knowledge in real estate investing. More specifically multi family/ rental properties.

    That is a great idea, I myself am a newbi and getting into real estate investing and real estate in general. All the information in BP is amazing but nothing is better than gaining hands on experience in the business.

    I as well want to volunteer in the chicago area in exchange for knowwledge and experience.

    @Perla Pedroza that's the right attitude to have. Try looking into networking at your local real estate clubs in your area. You can find them on meetup.com in or surrounding areas where you may reside. You will meet local real estate investors you can cultivate valuable relationships with as you're starting out. Good luck

    Erik,

    I’m currently working in title insurance for commercial real estate in the loop. I’m in the production side of title, I have general knowledge of real estate transactions. I want to have a better understanding of the whole process, deal analyzes, screening potential tenants, how to choose the best contractor for the job, evictions..etc.
    What type of help are you in need of?

    I completely agree, nothing tops experience (maybe. lol). I'm currently working in title insurance (the red headed step-son of RE) for Commercial Real Estate and I want to gain more experience/ knowledge on the multi-family/ rental aspect of RE.

    Looks like you are already gaining some hands on experience on title for commercial real estate! I am sure that will come in handy along the way. 

    For me it is also learning about multi-family and rentals as well as flipping houses. One thing I am learning is setting up goals and sticking with them.

    Hi, I can help you out but I’m no expert. I’m closing on a rental condo and it’s gonna provide you with hands on experience if you want to learn or most certainly we’ll learn both ways.

    Hi Perla.....our company would be happy to have you come along with our inspectors during a property inspection. We get a large number of wannabe home inspectors who do 'ride-alongs' with us in the course of applying for their IL state home inspector's license and it could be a real eye-opener for you. Beverly Johnson is an incredible inspector and she might be a particularly good fit for you. We perform quite a few multi-family inspections (I had a 32 unit inspection in Bucktown the other day and I have a 28 unit in Belvidere next Tuesday) so you could really get a jump on your understanding of how building conditions can impact purchase viability.
