Hi @Jason Varney what about just reading threads on Bigger Pockets? There was a recent post about a 140-unit building purchased, and the poster outlined some tips about taking additional costs into consideration when doing so. That's a very big unit purchase, but there are certainly other posts on here that may be of use.

Look on amazon for some excellent reads as well. They all pretty much tell the same story. The best by far is by Ray Alcorn - Deal Maker's Guide to Commercial Real Estate. That one is a little difficult to find. But worth the hunt.
Best of all, is too met up with folks who actually do commercial. A regular lunch meet is a very inexpensive way to learn some real-time lessons.
@Dawn Anastasi Great suggestion Dawn. I started going through each article on BP and I'll be moving onto the forums next. In the meantime, I'm looking for something I can read in addition to what I can find here. Just trying to soak up as much info as I can. Also, I'm going on a trip soon and a book will help pass the time on the flights.

I took a David lindahl bootcamp years ago. It was thousands of dollars at the time, with lots of upselling of course. I got some good information from that course, but it wasn't much more than you could learn from reading a couple of the aforementioned $30 books. I suggest starting with a book by Berges or Lindahl or both. That should give you a good introduction to how multi-units are valued, that is the biggest concept to grasp IMO.
The best sources for learning material can easily be found online or in a $30 book. I like Dave Lindahl's work because he makes his work easy to read and understand for us common folk. Just about any of his books will work.

In my opinion, there's simply no substitute for reading through this BP forum on a regular basis. And interacting with questions. The breadth of topics here are probably much wider than you might find in a book. And less "instructive",more helpful.
As other's have said - my two favorite are the ABC's of Real Estate Investing by Ken McElroy and The Complete Guide to Buying and Selling Apartment by Steve Berges.

I've been learning a ton from the articles and forums in here on MF. Looking forward to getting another perspective and even more info.
