Does your framing contractor install windows and sliding glass doors?

for a new spec home construction.

If not, who does?

Mine does. its included in the cost from 6 dollars a foot to 8 dollars a foot depending on floor plan. thats total framing Nails and window install and minor changes in the field when clients want some thing changed like closet etc..

I have not done full prefabbed homes but a good friend has done multiple prefab homes. Depends on use and size. Full modular prefab homes have size limitations for shipping etc. We had our framing prefabbed. So they panelized the walls by building them offsite and installed onsite - took a day to frame the walls, next day set the joists and subfloor and next day 2nd floor then two days for roof trusses and sheathing exterior etc. Much faster, no trash... Much more efficient.

If they are experienced in doing it yes have them install and flash. For my last home I had window company install but had them come out a week prior to confirm all opening sizes so if there were issues they were resolved prior to install. Thankfully our walls were prefabbed offsite and we coordinated all the openings in the panels ahead of time so all worked out

I used to, but I was the GC and my crews did a lot of stuff. If not the framer, then the window company will often have a sub or their own crew.....

Better IMO to have the framer/GC do it all....frame, flash, wrap, set and water proof. Then the window installer can't stop work to yell at the GC when the opening is off or it isn't flashed right...
