Hi BP Community! Hope all is well. Wanted to reach out to connect with any Airbnb investors and long term home owners in Tampa Bay. I'm looking to buy a home to act almost as a "vacation spot," but to rent out 9-11 months out of the year. Would welcome any and all insight and advice. Looking forward to connecting!

Are you looking to make it a STR or LTR for the 9-11 months of the year? As a LTR you are going to be able to do flexible 6-9 month leases in high demand areas like St. Pete/ Tampa.

As a STR, unincorporated Pinellas and Tampa proper (city of Tampa limits) will have the very least restrictions for short term rentals. Stick with Tampa if you are looking for solid appreciation, and flexible exit strategies as a STR or LTR.

    Hello , 

    Here are a few suggestions. Make sure that the home you purchase has the ability to short term rent it out. There are restrictions in some HOA's that limit your ability. Also have it well decorated. Hope that will help. Thanks Greg

    Thank you all of the input! I haven't really thought out fully the details and looking to speak with experts in the area. My investment strategy is broad, but my overall goal is to have a nice vacation spot for my family, and use income from the property whether through STR or LTR to pay the mortgage. Flexible on Ste. Pete or Tampa.
