Are other people really people? Or merely objects?

Question

I’ve encountered this all day today.  People lying, not returning phone calls, angling for something. Trying to leverage me for something extra. Something more.

We have reached a low point in our society. Everyone but me is an object; an obstacle preventing me from getting what I want (more $$$).
It matters not whether I lie, steal, and cheat. It’s all about getting as much as I can, from whom I can, while I can. If it’s in the contract that I can screw you, then screw you I must, because it’s my legal right to do so. Common grace and courtesy are relics of some old black and white Christmas tale.

This country is going to eat itself from the inside out.

Had a check in 4th of july weekend (same day turn) and the cleaners were still wrapping up at 410pm when guests arrived.  They were verbally bashed and then so was my ops manager for the "inconvenience" and demanded a free night.  I dragged it out to almost 10pm and told them they had an hour to gather their things and leave.  I own the property and am fine with a bad review if I get one.  Maybe next time they will think twice before treating people so poorly - the whole beach are was sold out so they likely had to move 30 mins or more late at night.

@Collin Hays I'll share my personal thoughts on this... I think we lost our way thinking that all rights are free. But rights should come with obligations. If I have a right to decency, then I must also have an obligation to decency too. This happens when we lose our sense of community and belonging. And hopefully we can all work to repair that.
