Hello BP,

My name is Jared Appel, recently relocated to Chicago by way of Miami, and diving head first into the BP community to start my real estate career. Would love to connect with others in the area and industry, I live in the Loop. Focused on reading, learning, listening and networking in the short term.     Jared,

    Usually its the other way around you move from Chicago to Miami get out of the cold to get into the heat. My Corporate office is up in Chicago and I have an office in Tampa and Miami so I know both areas well. If you ever want to talk REI let me know feel free to send me an email or give me a call.

    I have a lot of connections in both Miami and Chicago so if you ever need anything let me know.

    Thanks Jason, I'm definitely an outlier! moved for work, but I was looking to get out anyway. Not my scene, I'm originally from New Jersey. Thanks for sharing your contact, and look forward to connecting.

    Hey Savannah, thanks for the connect. The BRRRR strategy clicks with me, but renovating in the first deal seems daunting. Handy work is not my strong suit so I'm a bit uncomfortable with that part of the method at the moment. Any suggestions?

     Welcome to BP. Have you decided what sectors you will focus on?  I recommend you set up your BP alerts so anything Chicago will show up on your feed.  You should also check out the events forum.  Another way to start networking with like minded investors.

    Hey Hey @Jared Appel - Funny I swear I just saw a post of a person who recently moved to Miami from Chicago within the last several days.

    Anyways, welcome to the Chicago BiggerPockets community Jared!  Your short-term plan sounds spot on!  My three steps to success are very similar:

    1.  Listen/Read/Educate

    2.  Network (Virtually and more importantly in person)

    3. Take action (when you are 80% ready!)
