Real Estate Investing Groups

Member since 2026 · 5 posts · 1 vote

Hey everyone,

I'm 27 years old and currently work a full-time remote job. I'm looking to start my real estate investing journey and am excited to start learning from others who have experience in the industry.

I'm based in the West Palm Beach, FL area and am looking for local real estate meetup groups where I can network, learn and connect with other investors who are on a similar journey.

If you know of any investor groups in WPB, I'd love to hear about them.

Looking forward to connecting with everyone!

@Tyler Webb Welcome to the real estate investing world! If you’re looking at financing options for your first deal, I’d be happy to connect and see if I can help with lending. Feel free to reach out anytime!

Welcome, Tyler! Meetups are a great way to learn fast and build your network, especially when you’re just getting started. And since you’re open to learning, don’t limit yourself to South Florida. The Midwest is worth putting on your radar too.

@Arman Ahmed thank you Arman. I'm definitely looking to start networking and then get into a house-hacking market where it makes sense.

@Brad Seid thank you, I appreciate that and will reach out once I'm ready to pull the trigger on a deal.

Tyler, if house hacking is the goal, I’d stop thinking about “what market should I invest in?” and start with “what property can I actually live in that still works after South Florida beats the hell out of the expenses?”

That means I’d be looking at 2–4 units, or houses with a truly legal second unit, and I’d get very serious about the stuff that gets hand-waved online.

Roof age matters because insurance cares.

Flood exposure matters because insurance cares.

Whether the second unit is legal matters because lenders, appraisers and eventually buyers care.

Who pays water and electric matters.

Whether the rent you’re using is real matters.

And the tax bill you inherit after purchase may not look anything like the seller’s current one.

That’s the difference between a house hack that actually lowers your cost of living and one that just gives you roommates plus a second job.

If I were you, I’d take five actual properties around West Palm that look remotely viable and run them all the way through. Financing, insurance quote, taxes, rents, utilities, repairs, everything.

You’ll learn more doing that than you will at ten meetups.

We’ve been looking at properties this way for a while now, and one thing keeps showing up: the deal usually isn’t hiding in the purchase price. It’s hiding in the constraint everybody else forgot to price.

@Michael Eskenasy thank you very much for the advice here. I make it a habit to look for deals 30 minutes a day and to start analyzing to learn how to underwrite a deal.

Welcome to BiggerPockets! West Palm Beach is a great area to start building your network and learning the fundamentals of real estate investing.

My advice is to get around other investors, ask questions, and learn from both the wins and mistakes of people who have been doing it for a while. There are several investor communities and meetups throughout South Florida, so I’d encourage you to check those out and start showing up consistently.

Best of luck getting started, and welcome to the community. Let’s connect!

@Ismael Reyes thank you, that's exactly my goal to start off my real estate investment journey. Start networking and building my knowledge and learning how to underwrite.
