hey All,

My name is Dinesh Babu, I live in Frisco TX. I just wanted to say at the outset that this must be the best site out there when it comes to real estate investing. I've been reading and listening to the podcasts these past few days and the quality of the information here is simply second to none.

I'm learning so much every time I visit the site, I wish I had found this site or done some research when we bought our home back in 2009. I would have loved to do the "Live for free" that Brandon recommends so much.

Ah well, no better time that the present I guess. I'm looking to start my investing journey sooner rather than later. I'm keeping an open mind when it comes to strategy though I find more drawn towards fix and flip in the near term as a good way to shore up funds and then diversify into buy and hold.

I have a tech background so I'm gonna leverage that for lead generation, it will take a few months though to rank for keywords I plan on targeting. That should give me plenty of time to get my ducks in a row when it comes to financing and MLS access (agent license)

Anyway, I wanted to pop in here and introduce myself, looking to learn, network and contribute as much as I can.

cheers,

Dinesh

    Welcome to BP Dinesh. I recently bought a house in Frisco and looking for my first investment property. Like you, I too am working on getting my RE license, mainly for the MLS access. I found that working through an agent really slows down the process. Best of luck and let me know if I can help you with anything.

    Rajib and Dinesh -

    Hey neighbors! I live/work in Irving, and you are located in one of the best areas in the United States for real estate investing. Having MLS access is critical, so you are both on the right track. That said, seek ways to build relationships that get you ahead of the masses. Dinesh, your ideas on lead generation are great!

    Best of luck to you Dinesh and you, too, Rajib.  Hopefully our paths will cross at some point in the future.

    Sam

    @Rajib Miah

    Thank you!. Any tips on where to take the necessary classes for the license? I'm only looking at doing this online and have shortlisted UT, Arlington. They have an online course that seem to check all the boxes.

    @Sam Elder

    Thank you!. I used to live in Irving before I moved to Frisco :) Yeah, getting the license just made sense with the MLS access, ability to run comps etc etc especially looking back at the cookie cutter approach that the realtors I worked with had when I bought my house.

    @Dinesh Babu I am taking online classes at UT Austin, mainly because I was living in Austin when I started the classes. My coworker says he completed the classes at Collin Community College in 2 months for a lot less than what I am paying for online courses ($150 per class). You might want to look into that.

    @Sam Elder  thanks for the words of encouragement. I agree that building relationships in this business is critical. I've been wanting to go to some RE meet ups in North Dallas. Are there any that you would recommend?

    Hey @Dinesh Babu welcome to BP! I'm glad you're enjoying the podcast. You should definitely start jumping right in the forums! Also, if you haven't yet, try to setup some "Keyword Alerts." It's great for getting into local conversations.

    See you around the site!
